Please keep me and my family in your prayers UPDATE 4/06/09

I may be offline for a few weeks -- my mother had a stroke yesterday and is critically ill but improving. Because she has to learn how to walk again she will be in the hospital for the next several weeks. Please keep me in mind in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Nothing like a little reality to shake me out of alopecian self-pity!

3/30/09 -- UPDATE ---- My mother was moved to a private room out of Neuro ICU earlier today, and will be on the neurology unit for the next 48 hours before being moved to Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital in Nashville, TN, where she will be staying for the next month while she recovers. Thank you all SO much for you continued prayers, good thoughts and well wishes -- we will need all that and more as she recovers!!

4/06/09 -- UPDATE -- My mother was moved to Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital on Wednesday (some April Fool's Joke!), and she continues to make progress. Friday afternoon she started using a walker and she continued to use it on Saturday before resting on Sunday. Her blood sugar was a little high yesterday, but otherwise is well controlled. We have a meeting with the doctors and physical/occupational therapy team tomorrow so we can set a coming home date. She continues to improve by leaps and bounds daily. Please keep sending those good thoughts, well wishes, and prayers her way and ours -- and thank you all so much for your support during this difficult time!!!

Straight to mom...hang in there! You'll be okay. It will take time, so just work on it slowly and let others pamper you! Your daughter is there for you!

Your mom, you, your family and your friends are in my thoughts and prayers. My mother had a "slight" stroke a couple of weeks ago, so I understand how distressful a time like this can be. If there's anything that perhaps Cheryl and I can do for you, please let us know.
