Stopped alopecia and getting hair back

Hi. i have had alopecia areata for almost 15 yrs. Recently I visited my dermatolgist and he gave me prednisone for 16 days and locoid cream to be put twice a day. In one month i can see baby hairs growing in all my bald spots. i hope this piece of info will help someone who needs it. Now he gives me a shot of kenelog every month. He said my hair should be completely normal in 6 months.

Are you saying that AA is in remission in 6-15 months Naturally? Never read this anywhere in my 6 month

daily research?

GOOD INFORMATION! I was told by doctor that I like now that the 1st derm injected the kenalog way to deep and caused an indention in both areas of my scalp so therefore, it caused scar tissue ( which is dead tissue) the doctor that I like now went in at both sights and cut out I guess what is called dead tissue and brought the sights back to where I did not have the indentions and let that heal and came back weeks later and we started the kenalog again at a different strength and it DOES NOT hurt when it is injected. My first DERMATOLOGISTS hurt really bad. It's wierd and very hard to understand but whatever Dr. Griffin did is working for me right now and I could not be happier....

In your opinion, do you believe that AA is caused by STRESS? I was under a traumatic stress a month before I saw the patches? Just curious on your thoughts? The stress I was under I had never experienced before and now that I have dealt with it I am much better and maybe this is why my hair is growing back. Not only do I lose the hair with TE and AA I also lost weight because of the stress.

I'm also taking prednisone since October for another autoimmune disease polymyalgia rhuematica, but it hasn't caused any regrowth of my hair. I'm in the process of weaning off the drug and by April want to be off it completely. Glad to hear it's worked in your case though.

You are so right-----I'm so glad you commented on my post because I feel more educated!

Thank You so much for sharing your thoughts! Since my hair has grown back now with a full head I have

decided to stop all treatments in January and I will just hope for the best and I do wish you well

Personally, I think GUYS look GREAT the way you look----I know that probably means nothing to you but when a guy is bald he is a confident man and knows who he is whether it is by choice or by something greater than what we understand.....

Rapunzel's hair would be wonderful It's funny how we take things for granted--I tell you I am a better person that this did happen to me and If it comes back I too will have to handle it as it comes.

by the way if you had this for 28 years how old were you when you had your first loss? Don't mean to be rude hust trying to figure out if you were a kid?

One thing that I did not write because there is so much to say but my JOB was being a HAIR MODEL for number of years---Now that I lost my beautiful blonde locks I have had to change careers I guess it was time after all

I just turned 40----I really would have liked to have made that decision on my own though GEEEZZZZ

I took puffer seratide which is prednisone under another name in Australia for 7 years. I gained 8 kilos, and my beautiful hair mostly fell out. I had other horrible effects, like bone loss. Since I have had treatment for TMJ and jaw re alignment I was lave to stop the d drug and after 5 months I have the beginnings of a mohawk hair style each morning when I get up and new hair grows. I was afraid I would have to get a wig. My brush used to be full of hair and short and long hairs allover the floor, and its a wonder it was not all gone completely. The drug attaches to the hair base and stops it growing.
