hi im new on this site,i came across it by accident while googling alopicia. iv developed alopicia areata while i was halfway through my 3rd pregnancy, the 2 patches fully grew back after a year but now im geting more patches appearing. i have had a pretty stressfull life over the last year or so and im wondering if the patches have came from the stress or if they just hapened to arrive at the same time.
has anyone else had alopicia that they think has arrived from stress directly? any thoughts any1 has would be a great help, thanks for reading x

Hi Laura, welcome. I know it's hard to cope but I feel stress is the main cause of everything that goes wrong with our body, especially hair loss. My hair fell out in patches on my head and on my eyebrows/lashes after a real stressful time in my life about ten years ago. I tried every known treatment there is, and was severely hiding what was happening. After I accepted what was happening and stopped stressing I had almost full regrowth on my scalp. Even though my eyebrows/lashes haven't come back I still try to stress as less as possible. I hope you find a way stop stressing. Good luck and take care.

Hello Laure i have to agree with alex, If ur stressed out ur body wont work properly and if ur immune system doesnt work then u have problems as u need ur immune system to be good. I took a sun allergy which my body was very down and my hair fell out, but i had also had a very stressful life for the past 8yrs ad it could have also been this. I will never really know but i am tryin to have a better life altho it isnt easy, xx

My hair loss is definitely stress related, i have had two episodes now and both onsets were at extremely stressful times in my life, in April this year when my AA was at its worst and i was feeling extremely stressed at work I took five months off, I slept lots, spent precious time with family and friends, started a course of fusions vitamins and iron tablets and took time to smell those roses and within a month my hair started to regrow... my doctor was amazed. Six months later I have full regrowth. I hope you can eliminate the stresses in your life as I strongly believe stress is a major factor /contributor to many illnesses and diseases in particular our health and well being. Having said this I also believe our hormones could play a part in the AA riddle. Good luck with your AA I do hope you have a positive outcome soon. Vic x
