Swimming!

Well, I went swimming with my head under the water for the first time since I got AU almost four years ago! I had my wig on with the usual two pieces of tape, one at the forehead and one on the nape of my neck. I was on a backpacking trip and at one of the lakes I decided to give it a try. It stayed on just fine. I was able to brush my fingers through the wig while I was under the water to rinse it out a bit. I sat on the shore in the sun and after a bit the wig was dry and I just brushed it out. Perfect. I might not be able to dive in from a diving board but I did a shallow dive from the shore!

Awesome! When I was younger I made my living as a scuba instructor so I have always loved being "under" the water. It was probably my only regret that I felt as a result of losing my hair. Now, no more worries. August 3rd I am contemplating showing up for our Int'l Alopecia day luncheon sans wig. That would be a first for me!

If you ever get a chance to swim bald, it feels pretty darn good too:)
