Dana,
I think the fact that you are already thinking about seeing a therapist is an indication that it's a good idea. For some reason, there seems to be a stigma attached to seeking therapy, but it should not be so. If you have eye problems you go to your eye doctor, so when your mind is struggling over events in your life, why not go to a therapist? Alopecia has a profound psychological effect on many. Remember, alopecia is not your fault and if you are having trouble coping with it that is not your fault either. I think getting the perspective and insight of a therapist is worth a try.

Hi Dana, Nice to meet you. I agree with Jeff, there is too much stigma attached to seeking therapy.
I give you a high five, you see your not alone, I did a self referral to to counseling, after losing all my hair, I was devastated, I felt all alone, I was so depressed, talk about sudden hair loss, I went from a full head of hair in November to totally bald bye New Years, as noted above I did a self referral to counseling I needed tools to deal with this loss, I also went on line researching AA at the same time,it was there I found Leslie Ann Butlers Book, If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing, which lead me in return to AW. Between my counselor, Leslie Ann Butler's book & AW I am doing OH so much BETTER. I have had positive results with it. Good mental health is just as important as good physical health. Being able to talk & express your feelings is vital, it may hair, but it is a loss, it is something we have no control of & we are angry at our bodies for turning on us. Dana I applaud you & wish you nothing but the best. AW was my saving grace.
