When did you decide to shave it all off???
I recently moved out to Southern California from South Florida. I left my friends, family...comfort zone in the midst of a massive episode of AA. My husband took a job transfer out here. It's gotten exceptionally worse since I've arrived. I've been trying to obtain employment in a very bad economy and really feel that my self-esteem (or lack there of) has played a big role in not finding work.
My question is, at what point did you decide to shave it off and get a wig? Did you find it easier to cope afterwards?

I never shaved. I had hope, so i pinned wigs onto what hair I had or got wigs with elastic. Now that I am AT, I do not HAVE to shave because it is GONE (except for tufts), so I just continue with wigs, get lots of contacts and experience through education and jobs and clubs, and don't make any comment about my hair at work. I just do my job and life my life. Take part-time jobs at first, get to know people, then move up when you can! Good luck!

I shaved a year ago, July 5, 2008...most liberating thing I've ever done! I never wear a head cover, I wear SPF 50 when I'm in the sun (which is mostly never) and in the winter time I wear a hat until I'm inside and off it comes. I love being bald, it is so carefree!
