Okay i left work Yesterday without a hat on. I had my wig on. But I like to where my hat because it covers everything. And the first thought that came to me was someone on the train is going to stare down at my hair trying to figure out if its a wig, weave, or not, but i left anyway made it on the train without anyone staring. I decided to go shopping and after work i forgot about the whole not wearing a hat thing. As i finished shopping and stood online to buy pizza, thinking of what type to get.... a woman handed me a card ... completly lost i tried to read it as i got a glance of "Lace Wigs" on the card. I said "thank you" and she patted my arm as if to say its okay i know . At first i felt kind of odd... how could she know? people who have it know. they just know . The card she gave me was not from any locations in my area but upstate.. After that feeling past, i was very happy to know someone cared. Here i was expecting negative reactions and got a caring one.
Some people might have been offended but i was pleased she never said a word to me but handed me a card. :) made my day. Sometimes its not the words we say but the things we do to show people we care.

I dont have alopecia myself but know someone besides my little boy who does. That was a very nice gesture. After all ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!!! I tell myself everyday that their are very caring people in this world who can see beyond the issues at hand and really SEE YOU for who you are. For instance, I took my 2 little ones shopping the other day and Mikey was comfortable enough to take off his cap and a woman who was along side of me told me I had beautiful chidren!!! This brought tears to my eyes as I thanked her :) Because she she didnt even think about Mikeys half bald, half polka dotted head!!!! And he had the biggest smile on his beautiful face. And I told him you see sugar she thinks your beautiful, too! :)

@ lynne Yes hate the whole looking into my wig thing, but i am trying to get over it. Thats a plus that people who knew you have no clue.

@ jackie Very nice story. I like that she didn't make a comment on the hair but said your children are beautiful. I never thought about a mother dealing with a child who has AA. It must must be tought too. That comment i am sure lightened up your day.

I've had so many people say nice things when I'm out in public bald. Here's a blog about one of them:
