When my friends go on and on about how they "hate their hair today", or "how much trouble they are having with their hair". I sit there thinking "Really! You are actually going to tell me how much you "hate" your hair!" I know they don't mean anything by it, but it just really BUGS me!! Just thinking out loud:)

It's like when someone tells you NOT to think about dark chocolate with toasted almonds...you can't help thinking about it, and words just slip out about it. Either that, or your friends are so darn comfortable around you they have forgotten about your alopecia entirely!

I know how you feel. I have five sisters who I'm around a lot and there's always at least one complaining about their hair. Depending on my mood I'll either give a thoughtful suggestion or tell them straight out that I'm not the one to be complaining to.

Yah I know that feeling. It's goes along with the one..."at least you can where different wigs all the time and change your style" Like that really makes things all better. We adjust the best we can, but ultimately we never chose this alopecia. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that some people suffer from foot in mouth disease.

And, as they grow older, they suffer from wiry gray hair that thins and sticks out in different directions. At my age, I just give The Look that says, "Yep. I get to plop on better hair at our age," but I never say it out loud.

You people have the wrong attitude. When you get up in the morning you should be grateful just to be alive and healthy on this earth! So what if you don't have hair. There are people who don't have hands and feet. Don't have hair? There are people who can't walk, paralyzed from the neck down, and little kids who won't live past 8 years old dying from acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Have you ever seen a 2 year-old child suffering from juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia? Have you ever walked into the Shriner's Burn Center in Boston and seen children fighting for their lives? Get some perspective. I guess I just get tired of all the complaining. I'm so happy to be alive!

Hey...Crazy Horse...calm down. My blog was written in fun. Of course I am happy to be alive! And believe me having lived with out hair for the last 15 years, and alopecia for 22 years I know that it could be a whole hell of a lot worse. Not complaining, just a simple observation of life with out hair. I thought that this was a safe place to express your feelings...not get raked over the coals for them!

Thanks for the support Tan B:) Like I said I was just making a "life without hair" observation, definitely NOT complaining;)

ARGH I know! One of my friends once said to me, "Hey Sophia, I've noticed my hair falling.. do you think I have it too?" I'm just going to say, I didn't talk to her for the rest of the day. Maybe people think it's overreacting, but it's such a sensitive topic to us. I think it's perfectly okay to get mad once in a while. =D

Please remember Crazyhorse that these blogs are designed to be able to express feelings and thoughts of the moment. I'm sure that everyone here is grateful to be alive, even when we might have been at our lowest when coming to terms with our alopecia. Remember there is a lot of us that haven't fully accepted alopecia and are still bargaining with the powers to be. I too was at that point I would have preferred anything else but alopecia. These are feelings and thoughts, sometimes not very rational but still there. We are here to support one another, to sympathise and yes sometimes to give a kick in the butt of realism. And always in a compassionate way.

I'm sorry everybody -- I just lost it. I can't believe I went off like that, what is wrong with me? This is a place where people can say anything and I just lost it, I'm so sorry. Every time hair commercials come on the television -- I try to imagine what it would be like having hair! -- coloring it -- planning to wear it up in a pulled-back ponytail framing my face, going to a haircutter and getting it styled. I would say jealousy -- jealousy for everyone frosting and coloring and curling --. Again, I'm so sorry. -- crazy horse
