- About Me:
- My (head) hair started falling out after a stressful time during my last year of university, three years ago. I have been to many many doctors, most of whom were very unhelpful, and was told that sometimes 'it just happens.' I have recently been to a dermatologist who said it was chronic telogen effluvium + genetic influence. I was offered a range of possible treatments but looking at the side effects...no I don't want that! Now I guess i'm just waiting till it looks really bad and then i'll shave it all off!
I am currently studying, I love photography and going out with friends, travelling, reading...
This whole thing has given my confidence a bit of a blow, but I am determined not to let it take over me :)

After 3 years of cutting my own hair because I was embarrassed by my hairloss I finally went to get my hair cut by a professional. Since my hair started falling out I have been too ashamed to sit in front of a mirror and have someone else touch my hair...all those people starting and judging me. Last week I decided that I was probably being paranoid and that I should just get over my fears and go...so I did. The result is great! My hair looks so much thicker in my new bob style. Today I had a bit of a confidenceboost from one of my good friends and thought i'd like to to share it :)
I am at the moment still walking around with my natural hair but it is getting thinner and thinner each day, and so I will shave it in the not-so-distant future. As this eventuality gets closer and closer, I have been getting a bit worried about what to do in terms of head covering. I'm good hun. Just waiting on a new human hair wig to come in the mail from the US...nervous ....but excited to see how it is. How many have you got now? Good to hear you are doing o.k. I haven't shaved my bio hair...not brave enough yet lol take care xox :)
Oh and I agree I found it hard to talk to friends about it...I guess you just have to jump in there and tell them...if they are your friends they will be supportive:)
Man your story sounds like mine! My hair started falling out in stressful time and has just continued to do so!!! my confidence is shot. Especially as a couple of weeks ago my partner left me :( ....It's tough but I am determined not to let this beat me. Was living with him also, so had to move home with my parents at them moment...which is tough...they are lovely..but don't accept my decisions about my hairloss very well...my mum thinks it is silly and that I shouldn't wear wigs, even though my hair is very thin...I am torn as she tells me it is silly, but sometimes it just gives me confidence!!! Hi there, thanks for the friend request. I totally know what you are going through so if you need to chat send me a message any time. This sucks I know but with the help of everyone on this site we will get through it....after all we are still the same people minus a little hair lol. I have recently discovered wigs annd am slowly getting my confidence up to wear them in public. How about you?:)
