Married
About Me:
I am 32 years old and have two beautiful daughters age 2 1/2 and 4. I have had AA since I was 18 but always just had small patches of hair loss that would fall out and then grow back and always at the back of my head underneath my hairline so no one could see them. Within the last year or two it has gradually been getting worse and worse. I finally decided to shave it. Now I don't worry about people seeing it or not. Yes, I am bald, and I am proud of it.
Do you have alopecia?

Fashion Statement --- arrrrgggghhhh

Posted on November 6, 2009 at 8:52pm 7 Comments

I had to go to the hospital the other day, as it turns out, I have H1N1, getting through it and almost back to 100%. But something that happened while I was there really got to me. The nurse asked me if my bald head was, `Just a fashion statement`. That really bothered me. I didn`t say anything at the time but, I think I should have. I do shave my head, mainly because I had so many patches that it was almost all gone, but certainly not because I am some fashionista. I didn`t shave my head to be… Continue

I just wanted to share with all of you an extremely positive thing that has happened in my life recently. As some of you are aware, I work for McDonalds and we just had McHappy day on Wednesday May 6. As part of our fund raising I promised to shave my head (kill two birds with one stone) I have AA and it was getting to the point of wanting to shave it so that no one would see my big bald patch showing through and it was to raise money for an amazing emergency shelter for women that is right in… Continue

McHappy Day

I am a manager at McDonalds. Started there when my second daughter was born as the hours worked out quite well, figured if I was going to spend a bunch of time there I may as well make some money at it and work my way up as much as I can, if nothing else it will look better on a resume when I want to get back to working a "real" job... lol (I find that comment particularly funny because I think I have worked harder there than I ever have in my life) Anyways, I am pleased to announce that I am… Continue

I have Alopecia Areata, a very large patch on the side/back of my head, still hidden underneath my hair but BARELY and I think I have officially decided that I am going to shave it because I am wearing wigs right now anyways in the fear that someone will see my half bald head and I don't want the stares and questions and it makes me feel uncomfortable.

Anyways, I am a Shift manager at McDonalds and my owner is aware that I have alopecia, I should mention first of all that he is a… Continue

HELP.. Wig advice, synthetic that is going REALLY frizzy.

Posted on April 6, 2009 at 11:31pm 5 Comments

I knew when I bought this wig that it was a cheap synthetic wig, that being said, I still thought that it would last more than a week. I have only been wearing it for a week, maybe two and only on the days that I have gone out to do things in the afternoon/evening with friends, maybe 5-6 times. The back part now feels stringy and looks like half of the hair is broken and really frizzy. Walking up to me you would not really notice it but it feels horrible and gets knotted really easily and I end… Continue

Hi, I work at a store at the Chateau Lake Louise. The winter was really fun, I learnt to snowboard out here. Now it's kind of in between seasons, so there's not too much to do, but summer should be good (when it finally gets here, that is!)
