I have AU and also have weak brittle finger nails and toe nails. Does anyone else have same thing going on?

And does your nails grow extra slow too? I have all the same things you explained and that. idk why my nails are like this though.
I have the same issue - my thumb nails have been almost completely eaten away (there's mostly just hardened skin where they used to be) and my other finger nails are very brittle and chipped. My big toenails used to be the same as my thumb nails but they have recovered recently and my other toenails are completely fine and unaffected.
Strangely, no. And I have universalis.
I take biotin daily and it helps and i've done gel nails at home so my fingernails are growing and are much stronger actually. I have brittle fingernails (but not on my toenails), this is most likely because of my thyroid and not the alopecia. But taking biotin will help, of course you have to take them a while to see results. I have had AU for over 10 years and no problems with my toenails.
I took them for about 4 months, I still take them now too. Do you consonantly work with your hands? I type and write a lot, so having gel nails helped grow them out. I buff them before I do my nails and keep the gel nails on for as long as I can tolerate it.
Yes, I too have brittle toenails and trust me it really irritates a lot. But when I was looking for the treatments, someone suggested me to try these:
After I tried all these things, I noticed that my brittle toenails are improving. You can also try them and notice the same results. All the best. You can also know more in details at: http://www.curetoenailfungus.info/blog/about-brittle-toenails-cause...
Hi, I have brittle toenails, which I thought was because I workout a lot, but then when I lost all my hair, read that brittle toenails are probably due to having AU, my fingernails have never been affected, but they've never really grown too much or very fast. In November, I started putting collagen with peptides powder in my coffee and taking collagen with biotin pills twice a day. I saw improvement within a month. While my hair is not growing, my toenails are no longer brittle and my fingernails will not stop growing; the fingernails are very strong, my toenails are coming along, but a little slower. Along with biotin, you may want to give collagen a try too.
