Hi just had a quick question, when I got my new HH wig that girl who styled it for me used a hot blow dryer, I didn't think to ask her if I could use a flat iron, so much was running through my head at the time, couldn't think of all my questions:) I would like to use one if I can, but don't want to ruin it the first week. Thanks All

Just like with bio hair, hot blow dryers and flat irons are hard on your hair.

I always use a "warm" blow dryer and then set my hair with a cool setting.

I have not used a flat iron on my piece. (be careful)

Hi Alyce, thanks for the advice, I thought the blowdryer felt pretty warm when the stylist was drying it, but I would always use the "no heat" button on my blowdryer to set my own hair too, so use to doing that, and will not be something I have to learn...yea! I got my peice on tuesday, and for some reason feel like it has too much product, or conditioner in it...feels like I should wash it but I'm scared I guess its just that it will be a first time, I was going to wash it today before work but I don't think I will, I'm amazed at how the style just kinda stays, and just a bit of touch up is all I need, guess thats cause I don't sleep in it like my old hair. I have some questions for you so I'm sending a personal msg...thanks Alyce.

Wise 1, the two newbies...haha, I really like the style and am getting use to the color, it is a tad bit darker than my natural lol (out of the box) color, but I'm getting so many compliments on the color, they barely added some highlights to lighten it up a bit, and I think that I don't want to add any more processing than that, just to be safe. I was on cloud nine the day I got it, but day two, I had a weird melt down, not sure what happened, my Dr. whom I saw to discuss a letter she is writing to submit to insurance to try and get some coverage for it (fingers crossed) said it was normal, and I was grieving the loss of my hair, and the feeling of finality over my illness (I never think of it as an illness) she explained I have something I can't control, and I would not be normal if I didn't feel this at some point, I feel better now, but know this may happen again, I am so grateful for the products that we have to choose from, and their are choices for us, that feel so secure!!!

Hi

In my experience with unprocessed virgin human hair, you should be able to look after it in the way your biological hair can be looked after. It will dry out and become damaged if overstyling is done just as your own hair would. So, just be sensible around this for yourself. Follow the instructions your Rep gave you. Alyce is a Rep for Follea so should be able to be fairly precise around recommendations for the hair. If the hair is processsed in anyway you will need to be more careful as processed hair can behave very differently than unprocessed hair. Which type of hair have you bought?

The cap may have more issues around it. If the cap is lace and handtied/ with wefts at the back (I believe this was the description you gave of your follea gripper) you will need to be careful as knots undo and lace can rip quite easily. Softly softly.

Thank you Rose Marie, I will be careful for sure, I'm especially worried about the cap too, don't want to ruin that, My hair looks beautiful, and I want to keep it that way...so will be extra careful and soft with it, want it to last:)

I wash my wigs with shampoo and conditioner, brush them out, and then let them air dry. I don't use a blowdryer but then I do use a flat iron on them and haven't had a problem. Be careful though because I've melted off part of a sideburn when I wasn't paying attention of what I was grabbing with the iron. The hair seems to tolerate it well (European moreso than Remy). I only wash my wigs once a month or so since they each only get worn a few times a week and even then, not all day.

Of course you could use hot tools!! Thats the good part of human hair i would just make shure to use a heat protecter!! Thats the one thing that will keep ur hair in good shape! I like paul mitchel heat protector its like a fine mist for flat ironing and for curls i like kenra heat protecto it leaves a slight hold so curls will last till next wash n u could brush through it

AnGel, what kind of wig do you have? just curious, was it colored for you? Mine was, I'm just nervous I guess I will be, still have not washed it yet...such a baby, I work these four evenings and then have three days off, I think I'll brave it then, so if I really goof up I will have time to make it right....I hope, aw there I go again:)

Your reply made me smile:). Isn't what you say the truth, a little water and you can put what every went wrong with styling right.

I think learning to turn your new hair into something you love takes time and is quite the learning process.

:)

I wash, condition, and air dry my HH units. Then I style using heat (either electric rollers or flat iron, depending on style desired), followed by a light oiling with Brazilian Keratin Therapy or Argan Oil.

No matter how "wild" the unit may look after air drying, there's nothing that the electric curlers can't tame!
