Hey guys I have had AU for about 4 months now and I am really losing hope. I have done things such as lower my inflammation, take probiotics and vegetable juices to cleanse body and cut out anything potentially harmful such as artificial sweeteners. My inflammation levels (crp) have been low for about two months now.
I think I want to take Xeljanz now, but I have a few questions:
1) How quickly is the first sign of any growth? I have read that some people have growth in a month. The problem here is, how will I know if the hair is growing back from what I have done (takes many people multiple months to see growth back) or the Xeljanz? Unless I wait another month basically
2) How have side effects been for you guys? The long term possibilities scare me honestly
3) What are you guys going to do long term? Take it forever?
4) Did you guys start on 5mg or higher?

Hi,
I have had AU for 8 months. I have tried AIP diet for 7 months with no results. I am trying a lectin free diet now.
1) I have been taking Xeljanz for 2 weeks. No results at this point. It takes at least 8 weeks to see any results. Some people had no regrowth for 4-5 months. You will never know exactly if the diet or meds helped you.
2) The only side effect I have so far - being more tired.
3) I am planning to take it long term. At this point, I will take anything to get my hair back and don't feel like a freak.
3) I started at 10mg, read that most people here had to increase the dosage later. I switched to 15mg and do steroid pulsing.
Are you under doctors supervision? And how did you get the xeljanz?
Yes, the doctor prescribed 10mg/day. I buy generic from Bangladesh. My insurance - Cigna- does not cover.
Hi,
I've been on 5mg twice a day since November 2, my eyelashes are coming in slowly as are my eyebrows. I haven't had any side effects at all. Unfortunately, in January I had to switch health insurance and I'm working with BCBS to see if they will cover it, under CareFirst (prior ins company) I was able to get authorization for coverage, not sure what is going to happen with BCBS.
I am also on Xeljanz 20mg for 1,5 year.. Started on 10mg for 3 months which did literally nothing. Side effects 1) a bit tired when I started and when I changed my dosage to 20. 2) a bit more easy to get cold but nothing I cant handle.
In general, no significant side effect. And yes I am planning to stay with this (or something better ??! ) forever. It's no big deal, I have been already taking thyroid medication for 13 years.
