I own a fw piece and am happy with it but I'm now considering buying a Gripper to wear during the summer months, something that stays put during activity. Need personal opinion on if worth buying a Gripper or just another fw piece. My fw piece is medium density which is rather thick for me and if got another would try light density. What Gripper is worth the $? Would love to hear from peeps who own both. Thanks.

I have only one wig and its the gripper cool, I'm very happy with my selection, I got it the end of august, so have not worn it for a year yet, it is holding up really well, I wear it everyday, except sleeping and wash it about once a week or sooner if I feel it needs it. The hair is really nice, and I'm happy with the cut and color they did, I purchased from a salon who did the full service. I hope some will chime in about the gripper sport, I know that it offers more security but I was advised by the salon that it can feel a bit hotter because the silicone runs in strips throughout the cap. I do notice the silicone gets a bit slippery feeling when I'm super hot, but I also noticed that I was not any hotter in it then I think I would have been without it, which surprised me, some wigs can feel like a stocking cap is on your head. I've been curious about the FW and gave them some thought before I made my selection, the biggest drawback was the price, and not being able to try on and know what it would feel like before I got it, the gripper that I got was the 6 inch and was less than half the price of the freedoms at the time. You can go and try on the grippers and then I think you would have a better feel if they would work for you. Good luck, let us all know what you decide:)

Everyone is different and has different expectations. Having had AU for over thirty years, I've spent tons of money on potential solutions....some worked well for a while, but my needs changed over the years. I have had Freedom wigs when I worked on 5th Avenue in NYC. Love the vacuum wig quality, but it's unfortunate that the silicone wears out and becomes unrepairable long before the gorgeous Freedom hair reaches its maximum lifetime. Once I reached "a certain age" the caps became unbearably hot. I tried the Gripper. I'm not a huge fan of my Gripper - it is not comfortable for me and leaves welts on my head. I purchased the Gripper to wear for dancing, but found that when I perspire and spin, the Gripper becomes quite a slipper, so it was not the solution I had hoped for...and for what it is, I did not think it was worth the cost. For me the solution has been purchasing several inexpensive custom-sized full lace wigs that give me color, style, and length flexibility (including very nice updo styles). Since they are custom sized, they stay on with very little glue. In fact, I've rarely had to use anything stronger than Got2B Glued hair spiking gel to hold them on sufficiently during rigorous exercise. Different options work for different people. Sometimes it is a costly process to find what works best.

Lori- where do you get wigs that are costome made? And where do u get the glue? Can't wear tape as my skin is too sensitive

Try Got2b Glued Spiking gel. You can get it at CVS and RiteAid in the US, but also online: http://www.drugstore.com/search/search_results.asp?Ntk=All&srch.... I highly recommend it, even for holding on synthetics without tape tabs.

I buy my custom sized wigs from orderwigsonline, and I've not been disappointed. I hate to recommend them to others because some folks who ordered did not like the results. I think we all need to go through our journey to find the solution that is right for us.

At this point in my life, I prefer to use any extra thousands of dollars that I find available to pay down my mortgage so that I can retire! Having super model hair is no longer all that important to me! lol

Hi Lori

I know you haven't had a Freedom Wig for about 10 years... the technology has changed somewhat and I don't believe you would have the same issues you may have had all those years ago.

Take care

Lori, was it the silicone that made the welts? Just wondering if you noticed it using any other silicone like in the freedom wigs? Did you have the sport or the cool? just curious about this, as I have not had any welting or head irritation, the silicone in mine runs just around the parimeter. I was thinking about getting the sport in the future, but not sure, what I will do. Thanks Lori!! I'm still thinking about ordering the custom fit lace wigs, a friend of mine did and she is very happy, your so right, that Got2Bglued is amazing stuff! Have a great day:)
Chris

I get welts around the hairline where the silicone is. I don't have the Gripper sport; just the regular one in an extra small. I have an odd head....the measurement around the head is a regular 21", but the measurements from ear-to-ear are over an inch smaller than average. That's why to get a very good fit, I need something that is custom. While Grippers come in a range of sizes, they are not custom (but sure are priced as custom).

Lori..I feel like you wrote MY story. I love my Freedom piece, and it changed my life years ago when I first went to human hair. But I too am at that certain age (too hot) where I want another HH wig for other activities. The price for the Gripper is way too much for the quality of hair you get. PROCESSED. Gripper hair does not MOVE. Freedom hair is the BEST. the newest silicone base is much more soft and pliable and breathable than the original ones. I am very interested in your solution...buying the custom sized full lace wigs. That would be my perfect world: my Freedom piece AND a cooler HH natural looking piece. Okay.. a shopping I will go. thank you for all your input. wigsonline seemed overwhelming ... but will give it a try. THANK YOU!!!

Where do you get custom sized full lace wigs?

Hello Sarah,

You may want to check with Makayla Maddux at her email:missmakaylaxox@aol.com
Makayla has been wearing the gripper cool for 3 years. She dances, runs swims with this hairpiece.
If you are interested email me Carmen West, directly at cwestgb@aol.com for pictures and video.
My cell is 850-712-3369 if you want to ask questions. One of the things with the gripper is that it fits at the natural hairline. This means you can wear an up-do and pony tail.

Hello

I don't like comparisons being made between wigs as it always seems to be somehow construed as bad behaviour. Everyone that wears their wig of choice loves it ... that's why they wear it. I also understand your need for feedback.

I would suggest you contact Jody Gorski and have a chat to her about the two options you are looking at (she has wears the Freedom Vacuum wig and has tried the 'Gripper).

I would also definately go with a lighter implant with your next Freedom. Feel free to pop into my page and have a wee looksee at my daughter wearing her Freedom Wigs they are all light or extra light.

Rosy

Hi Chris

The owner of Freedom Wigs and the General Manager are always working to innovate with the product we have. It is a little early for me to expound about any innovations that may be forthcoming, but you can be assured that striving for better for Freedom wearers is always part of what Freedom does.

As soon as I understand and know anything I will pass it on to the IA's and their clients. :)

Take care

Rosy
