Hello,

My name is Cathy and my son is 14 years old and has had Alopecia since he was 5, he has always had patches and were easy to hide, when he was 13 the spots became larger, now he almost bad and it has been so heartbreaking to see my son go through this, especially now that he is in high school.

We finally have good news and want to let you all know about it, The Hair Club for men treat children with Alopecia, I made a call and was delighted that they also cover the cost for children ages 5-18 years of age, they make a piece made for your child and it last for 4 months, the best part is that they can wash their hair, swim, play sports and they never have to take it off, you do need to go in every two months so they can re-apply the adehesive, this is not a wig.

My son will get his new hair on December 18th and it is the happiest I have seen him in a long time, we are elated and hope this is the resolution, there are many Hair Clubs throughout the United States, if you have any questions, please email me and I will share with you what I know.

Thank you,

Cathy

Cathy-
My daughter developed Alopecia when she was 12 years old (she is now 15). She has been a client of Hair Club for Kids for almost 3 years and I cannot tell you how much they have helped us. We have been extremely happy with the hair club system and it did wonders for her self-esteem. She even told me the other day that it is the closest thing to having your own hair. She sleeps in it, plays sports in it, swims in it (watch chlorine levels thought), and we have had no big issues. My daughter is very very active in sports and I did purchase a plan on my own to allow her to have additional heads of hair as we found at about 2 months they start to wear out for her. We did previously try wigs but they were ichy, hot, and there was always the fear it would fall off. We have none of these concerns with hair club system. I hope you son has the same experience as my daughter as I know it is a tough situation for an adult to handle let alone a child or adolescent. Best of luck!!

Hi Cathy,
I didn't have the same luck with the Hair Club, they have never returned my numerous phone calls. Maybe the NJ/NY metropolitan area isn't as responsive. My 10 year old daughter has alopecia and has lost almost all her hair. I gave up on them and am trying to find another source.
Glad it worked for you.
Barbara
Hi Barbara,

I am so sorry they never returned your calls, I would recommend you call #888-773-1321 and have them transfer you to Jo Jo, she is the lady that helped me, she is located in Florida and was wonderful, I wish I had her direct number, if that doesn't work, let me know and I will ask my Hair club in Sacramento for her direct line.

I will do whatever I can to help you, because I know what your going through, it is the most heartbreaking thing to see our children go through this.

Sincerely,

Cathy
I to took my son to HairClub but the wig didn't look good at all, it didn't fit , I think it was more the person doing the measuring, but I do not remember them saying anything about the kind they offer you could swim in or leave on to sleep in. So just ask questions but hey its free of charge so thats a wonderful thing for children if it works. It is really hard to find a wig for a boy I have seen so many cute girl wigs, boys are tough!

Hello Cathy I have a 13 yr old boy that has had alopecia since birth. How did this work out for your son? My son plays baseball on a select team so he plays spring summer and fall. He deals well with his condition well and we never even considered a wig because he is so active but a wig that he could wear in a pool and not worry about it falling off could be an option for him especially since he will be starting high school in a yr...at a new school . I was not aware of hair club for kids..any info you can share would be appreciated

Great to hear that. I hope everything will go well.
