I kept asking my poor boyfriend "has it moved?" "Is it still in place?" "Howabout now?" He was very patient with me.

But it went well, and I feel a bit more confident now. Is everyone this nervous the first time out?

My daughter was nervous at first. Now she is totally comfortable with them. I don't know what type of wig you wear but use some double sided tape and it won't move. She likes super tape the best.
Sooz, you always make me smile... d'you think the reason the wig won't come off is cos it's jammed between your head and the floor?? :)

Mhairi: I can't comment on wigs - only wear 'em at fancy dress parties! - but it's a fact that peeps spend ages fussing and worrying over details of their appearance that no-one else even notices.... just plonk it on, get it lined up something like, and get out there and enjoy life! Either people will notice but won't care, or won't notice and STILL won't care. But in the unlikely event someone DOES say something, have a few comebacks ready and waiting. Or get your fella to give 'em a smack :)
I was that nervous, I still would be if it wasnt for my Vaccume fit hair. Here is a link to a post if you would like to read on my blog about how my mother in-law found out I had Alopecia. You will be able to realate towards the end of the post me asking my husband "how about now"? NOW?

Awww....hugs girl, that has to be hard...I still can't find one I like and that will fit my big fat head.
Funny you say those things because that is the exact way I was with my poor husband. I kept asking him are u sure it looks real are u sure it hasnt moved.
I also wore a wig for the first time 3 weeks ago,in front of family i was so nervous i felt like i was gonna have a panic attack.i want to get used to it ,i have been in my house for over a year, except for doctors and grocery shopping .i want my life back.......
Estella - you have to take your life back by force, it is not fair that you've been in your house for over a year. We are still living, yes I know it is hard, but we must overcome Alopecia and not let it overtake us. We can live long successful lives. And, I can sense you want to do it - so let's talk it out - together here on this site we help each other to LIVE.
((((HUGS))))
PAT,thank you for taking the time to write.i am trying so hard, but for example i had to run to c.v.s to pick up my prescription, and the first thing they cashier asked me is what happened to your hair,i actually broke down and cried in the store.i want my life back and my family wants me back.
Maybe there is an advantage having first worn a wig sooooooo long ago. I have actually forgotten! You will get there, too. I was more concerned with new contacts falling out of my eyes back then than I was about the wig, but I do recall spending an hour each morning before high school getting my own forehead hair pulled over the front of the wig JUST SO, to look real and symmetrical!
I really hope to be there soon, thank you
i was really nervous too, and ive worn a wig now for over a yr and still get nervous, x
