Hi all!
I had AA for many many years but after two pregnancies I lost all my hair. (Also partially eyelashes and eyebrows). The process was very slow, it took probably 1-2 years for the hair to fall of. Been bald for around a year now.

Suddenly most eyelashes and some eyebrow hairs are back? And I have got some light, thin hair on the head? Do you know how it starts if you get your hair back? Can I have some hope? Or is this just some weird phase?

I also wonder about the connection to the thyriod gland, I had to take Levaxin during my second pregnancy but stopped when he was born 3 months ago, still havn´t gone and taken a new test to see my levels now though. Anyone recognizes this?

kind regards /Helena

It sounds like you may be having some hair re-growth :-) Wait and see what happends, but from previous experience it came back just like it fell out, in patches. Only wished it would of stuck around and played a while longer :-(
Good luck to you on your hair regrowth.
I guess it varies. I started having spots in Feb 2008, within a year or so, I was completely hair less. I'd say maybe Oct 2009, I had all these white hairs, everywhere even my eyelashes were translucent/white. By July 2010, I have 100% eyebrows and eyelashes and hair follicles with my real color hair growing on my head. I'm still not putting my all into this.

As strange as it seems, my hair grew upwards on my body, meaning it started on my legs and worked its way up. Weird!! Who'd think I would be excited to have hair growing on my chin :)
As we all know, alopecia is very unpredictable. That being said it seems that quite a few of us have this pattern of regrowing the white/translucent hair with the color slowly returning.

All the best.

Hello, Yes keep your head up because there is hope, always ! It starts out With tiny thin white hair. mine stayed this way for about four months. Then they turn darker in color and start to grow a little faster, but patchy, mine is growing in one patch at a time. Once it started to turn color is when mine took off ! I still Have some bald spots but they have the tiny white hairs in them. I hope this gives you some confidence however bald or not just be yourself thats all that really matters !!! Best wishes to you :)
This is exactly what is happening to me too....
I lost my hair, eyelashes and eyebrows....I have patches of hair on my head (which I have left alone to see what happens and I like walking by the fan and feeling it blow ;) My eyebrows are trying to come back - one is coming in pretty good and the other looks like an old mans brow - sprouting in ony area. My bottom lashes came back first.....then I started to notice the top ones coming in (very exciting) so I stopped wearing the false lashes to give them a chance and so far so good. I have had patchy hair loss since 10th grade. I lost 40% of my hair after my second pregnancy - it all grew back within a year...then I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago...my scalp always hurt...had patches all over my head and finally had my husband shave the rest off...felt so much better ( my scalp..not me) I went through alot of wigs and each one got better. I know have a vacuum wig, which thankfully, my insurance covered and I love it. My hair looks better now then it did when I had my own. I stay hopeful that one day I will have my hair back - but right now I am so thrilled about my eyelashes! Good Luck!
Your smile is enough to light up your whole head, white hairs or not. Keep smiling and enjoy your babies for that's the thing we do know for sure..they don't stay little forever. Our hair, that is all in the air and something we can't touch just yet. Your hope, absolutely!, always hang on to it, never take away your hope, and hang on tighter to those little ones. :)
wow, what a response - thank you all for caring!

so, a little hope is alright it seems! :)
If it doesn´t come back though, then it is not the end either. I truelly believe in thinking that things could be much worse - it is only hair. Of course it sucks at times... and I hate it at times... but - it is only hair...
My family and babies are so much more important - and they love me without hair! :):)

My best wishes to all of you who are experiencing the same thin tiny hairs as me!
