I experienced very mild and brief AA twice in my early twenties, but developed AU when I became pregnant with my first child at 26. I'm married, was trying to conceive, and was completely thrilled about the pregnancy, yet was told by multiple doctors that it must have been triggered my stress. Was your alopecia triggered by pregnancy? If so, did you experience regrowth? How long did it take? My son is now 13 months old and I am expecting my second around Thanksgiving. Due to pregnancy and breastfeeding, I have not received any treatment.

i lost all my hair while pregnant with my second child who is now 2..i have had zero re-growth. however i have never had any treatments either..what treatments did you do?

I've not had treatment, either, because I've been either pregnant or breastfeeding since my AU began. I do have a tiny bit of regrowth that has only sprung up in the past few weeks. It's difficult to gauge how full it is, since it's currently pigmentless. As if pregnancy isn't emotionally taxing enough, huh? Throw losing all your hair on top of that! I made the conscious decision to try for a second child before trying treatment because I didn't want to experience regrowth and then risk it all falling out again when I decided to have another baby. My doctors were planning to do Rogaine, oral steroids, and steroid injections in the scalp, as we'll as Latisse for my eyebrows and eyelashes.
It was suggested to me that my hairloss was due to testosterone levels fluctuating. Was your second child, by any chance, a boy?
Lost all my hair right after my second, I just started putting Lavender oil on. It smells weird and it's greasy but I feel something going on! I usually don't buy into things like that but I heard good things so figured what the heck, I have nothing to lose anyway!
My son is 3 months now and I've been applying it every night for the past 2 weeks.

My baby is also a boy so that's an interesting question, if that affected it...
At 34 I had never had any hair loss. I had a challenging pregnancy and was on many meds to maintain the length of pregnancy. When my little was 10 months old I lost a huge amount of hair, within 2 months all of my hair was gone. I have to wonder if the pregnancy had anything to do with triggering the AU.
