The eyebrow over my left eye is almost gone but part of the right eyebrow must have missed the memo. So, here I am, left with a few stray hairs over my left eye and ~10-15% of the brow over my right eye. Odd looking to say the least and, in some ways, more disconcerting to me than the loss of hair on my head. Guess I have a few options: let nature take its' course, tweeze the rest, or pencil in with make up. Personally, I think it's way too early to think about having them tattooed as they may grow back...or are the odds of regrowth slim to none? Are there other options that I've missed? Also wondering if waxing is better than tweezing or if shaving them is an even better option. Sorry for all the questions...thanks in advance.

Ugh! Sorry Tony! It's kind of like choosing between a punch to the gut or kick in the pants! Not great choices! I agree- way to soon for tattoos.... as there is every reason to believe they will grow back. I can't believe I am saying this as desperately as I try to hold onto every hair on my head... BUT I would go for symmetry. I'd wax what's left of the right eyebrow... think you might be happier if they are more balanced.

Waxing just seems easier and quicker to me... and if you are interested in that option I found a very easy over the counter product-- no heat, no mess... just looks like tape. Put it on.. RIP it off! ouch! BUT waxing will be a completely smooth look... if you do have a few stray hairs over the left eye or any soft fuzzy/vellus type hair on your face... then tweeze if you want them to match evenly. Shave- hmmm would be easy but you would probably have to do it everyday to avoid stubble in the areas where you still have hair-- the other choices may have a "cleaner" look.

There are a few people on this site who have tried latisse for either eye lashes OR brows- and the results seem mixed. Like steroid creams I guess... works great for some (like me) or not at all for others. Might want to run latisse by your doctor for an opinion? (not suggesting do use steroid cream on your face - to strong = acne.)

If you try to pencil in eyebrows... how do you feel about going to either a salon or make up counter for someone to show you any "tips" or options. They do also make some kind of silicone eyebrows- but I know very little about that... perhaps someone else here can weigh in!

Good luck!!
Heather
Thanks for the suggestions Heather. As a guy, I must admit, that the thought of waxing or tweezing anything...let alone ripping...gives me goosebumps. I don't know how you gals do it. Lucky for me that the rest of the brow over the left eye came off after my morning run & shower. A fair number of those hanging out over the right eye made their way down the drain also. Thinking this might be a mute point by week's end. Almost makes me happy that AA sometimes moves so fast.
So AA took the decision out of your hands! Sounds just like AA.... no choice! no control! no vote! no predicability ....uh oh I better stop myself or I could go on all night. I'd be like Forest Gump/bubba shrimp...shrimp kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo... haha.

Really sorry-- I have read from almost everyone on this site how hard it is losing eyebrows/eyelashes. I do still have mine... but no security that I always will. Day by day...

If I knew how I would put a few links here about eyebrow options. There are some good ones under discussions & blogs if you get the chance- check them out.
They might come back, you never know. I lose chunks of lashes and they come back.

Gail Porter was universalis for several years until last year and now has a full head. I doubt that she used any medication. Anything like DPCP would have been obvious during treatment and she didn't cover up so that seems unlikely.

She just got spontaneous regrowth...which might shed again some day. No way to know.

How do we do it? Wired for childbirth. That's how.

Thanks everyone for the support & suggestions. I'm adjusting to the new look, not quickly but getting there. All things considered, I'm a bit suprised by the reactions of others. Almost everyone stares and I could swear that a few have taken a step back like I have a contagious disease. Normally, I don't put much stock in other people's opinions when it comes to my alopecia so I'm suprised at myself for taking the reactions to heart. The past few weeks have been exceptionally challenging. Perhaps I'm just tired.
Hi Tony,

It's an adjustment which will get easier. I find that if I just carry on as if having no eyebrows is the most normal thing in the world other people don't care. Just project yourself and your personality as always and soon you'll discover that other people pay less and less attention.

Little things, especially for men, can add up to make you feel best about your appearance. Know which colors look great on you and keep those close to your face. Give away all the shirts and sweaters that drain color from your face. Wear glasses as much as possible..either sunglasses or frames with clear lenses if you don't need a prescription. Give people something else to notice about you....an interesting watch, a bracelet, or a power tie.

This is not yet what you may be expecting to hear, but the truth is that what other people think fails to matter so long as you look in the mirror and accept the face you see looking back as a mighty fine face. What you think about yourself is the key. After that, other people just go with the flow.

Woke up this morning to almost totally smooth brows on both sides. Yeah, AA took the decision out of my hands. Still laughing over the comparison to Bubba Gump Shrimp. Should be thankful I suppose as youngest DD got 'that' look in her eyes when she said she would bring her stuff to wax my brow this weekend. She told me not to worry as she'll rip it off really fast so I'd hardly feel anything. Don't know about you, but the terms rip and hardly feel seem contradictory. No worries as it becomes a mute point. Noticing other parts of the body are starting to shed so beginning to wonder what other wonderful suprises I might wake up to in days to come. Like Thea said, you never know...
Tony,

I am also in the same predicament. Right now I don't know how to pencil them in without looking unatural. So right now I just leave them... I was diagnosed with Universalis when I was 16, I am now 28.. Lost all my hair, everthing. Five years later all of my hair came back...It has fallen out and came back 3 times.. So you never know, alopecia is so very unpredicable.

I post about this so much they should probably be paying me, but check these out if you don't want to tattoo: http://www.headcovers.com/cosmetics/eyebrows/

I'm wearing them in my profile picture- they look amazing in person.
Eva, your eyebrows look fantastic!
