I have heard that AU usually develops at younger ages (childhood) or during teens and some people develop it at larger stages in life quite fast. I currently have AA and I am 28. How many of you in late twenties, thirties, fourties that have developed AU suddenly with NO onset in childhood or NO onset during teenage years?
I am new to this forum and I totally respect each and everyone of you.

I am 53. I developed AA in my 30s. I would go a couple of years in between episodes. About 4 years ago I had a regular AA episode and the usual cortisone scalp injections to treat it and it was growing back in as usual. Then suddenly for no apparent reason the recovery U turned and I went to AU
I have been AU since then.
I was starting Menopause when the AU hit me and I DO believe that there is a hormonal factor to this sometimes.
I had no AA before my 30s
I think that this is the most interesting thing about the disease. It varies sooo much and absolutely everything and anything, even contradictory statements, can be said about it. I lost all of my hair very quickly just before I turned 22. For the most part it hasn't grown back but in the last year or so (25 yr old now) some hair has come back in random locations on my body.
