Hi! My name id Sierra and I have had alopecia universalis since I was a young girl, and now I am 21, so I've lived with alopecia the majority of my life. Well, to make things sweet and short, I applied for a wig through Locks of Love when I hit 9th grade of high school, and fortunately enough, I was accepted for my firs hairpiece. Since then, I have had 4 hairpieces from LOL and I am currently on my final wig from LOL. The age limit is 21 and so last year I aged out (but I don't hold any negativity against them whatsoever as I was very blessed to receive wigs from them and it changed my life). Well, this one now is cracling, balding, getting old, "dying" as I like to call it as it is way over its 18 months expiration date, and I have been trying to take care of it as best as I can. At the same time, I am trying to find another organization, in Michigan or one from another state that reaches out to other states, that can help me in the process of getting another wig. The hard part is is that I live alone and am very low income, which is limited. And it's nearly impossible to find another human hair wig that isn't $5,000 or more and I could never afford to even do a payment plan or get help from my insurance company. I'm reaching out to hopefully find help in hopes of finding another organization like LOL or even maybe help in finding financial help in getting another human hair wig.

It's not that I'm not accepting of my alopecia or uncomfortable with it. I don't know how else to explain it, but it makes me feel wonderful to have hair again, even if it is in the form of a wig. And I am scared to one day never have a wig again, and I have tried synthetic wigs but my skin is sensitive and my scalp gets dry or rashes up. I really hope this doesn't offend anyone either. But any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

I would like to help. Over the years I have contacted different wig sellers on line for donations for those really in need. I would like to help you. If you friend me I will be glad to help you. I have access to Human Hair wigs that are created for those with Alopecia. I understand all that is needed for a wig to look and feel natural. I would need to know the details of your wig specifications and we can go from there. Look forward to hearing from you and hope that I can take the stress off of you related to your hair needs. Truth be told, I have a hard time admitting this to myself:

but I feel so ugly without hair. and it's not even just the not having hair part, my scalp is ugly and I feel ugly when I show my scalp, and people can tell me every single day how beautiful I am without hair, but I will never believe that I'm beautiful without hair. I have no confidence in myself when I'm bald. I've gone out in public without any hats, scarves, etc. on before, and I couldnt think of anything else besides people looking at me and thinking im ugly. I've accepted the fact that I'm bald and that I'm never going to get my hair back, ever, but I've been telling myself for years that I'm beautiful with or without hair, and I still never believe it. I don't want to feel "normal"; I just want my confidence back and I want to feel pretty, and having hair does that for me. And not having options to find a new wig is just stressing me out even more. I'm terrified to be bald the rest of my life and never having any options for wigs again.

Have you looked at xcsunny wigs? They sell full lace and lace front wigs and often run specials of 20% off. I get a full lace, 16 inch human hair wig for $167 to $180 dollars. HTH!

Hi.. I have had alopecia universalis majority of my life too, I have never paid over £200for a human hair wig that can last for years (with proper care)I even buy the pieces and make them myself ( I learnt from YouTube). You can buy a full human lace wigs from wholesalers for around £250- £500. DM me for more information X
$5000 is extortionate, that is wayyy to much

Hi... There isn't really any help out there for low income people. I have looked.I tried to start a program where people would donate wigs they had that they didn't want ok like but only got a couple and they were synthetic. Try a gofundme page and see if you can raise the money. I wish there was help I could use it too sometimes. Good luck.

Hi Sierra, sorry to hear that you are not having any luck in finding a good quality wig at a reasonable price. i did have the same problem,  i used to buy expensive wigs, but then after awhile i was not able to afford it anymore and I find this online wig company that is located in Canada by the name of Silkawigs.com. They have great selections of quality 100% human hair wigs that will last you well over 2 years and the price is very reasonable as well. You can visit their online store to see you can find something you like. Take care and all the best

I have seen a lot people do really good with doing a go fund me campaign.  www.gofundme.com

You put your story about having alopecia up on the page and people can donate to you.  I have seen many people raise enough to get the Freedom vacuum wig.

Good Luck!!!

Oh dear, I’m really sorry you struggle so hard to get a wig. You already have been mistreated by the faith in a cruel way, and the fact you don’t have a proper wig makes the things more complicated and emotional. In such a case, I can only advise you to find side jobs for additional income. For instance, online jobs listed on themoneymix.com represent great sources to earn money and gain some experience for your future career. Why not? You never know where life will bring you. I believe a full time and an online job will bring you closer to your dream wig.

Unfortunately for low budget you will only get a cheap wig. That will look as a cheap wig on you. So I would either suggest you could shave or try to earn money which is of course not so easy now.

So if this is still topical for you, I've just rang my former college professor and he confirmed all that I had said before. He also said that you would more likely earn decent money if you started your own business. And if you use Contractor Scheduling Software you will be able to spare your time and resources from hiring a lot of stuff, as this app will do everything for you. Then you will be able to buy high quality products, I hope. But of course you should make your business profitable first.

I know that the last post here was in 2017, but I want to share with you my opinion and my story about it. I had the same issue with my income as you have now, I tried a different kind of jobs, and that wasn't my type at all. Furthermore, I was searching for 6 months, and one day while I was browsing the Internet, and found out about retail arbitrage from this place:yourmoneygeek.com. I can say that this job suits me better, and I can say that I'm pleased with it and with the income that I receive from it. You can try this job too, maybe you will like it.
