Hello everyone!

I'm needing some good advice for a wig.
I have AA and I think the time where I need to wear a wig has finally came.....I took this picture on my profile 2 weeks ago and now I need to spend nearly an hour to hide all my bold spots(but still can't hide all of it)..... I can't do this every time I need to go somewhere and it is very frustrating.
So, I decided to cut my hair short, buy me a nice looking wig and start over.
But I don't know anything about wigs.
My biggest question is that if I get a synthetic wig will people be able to tell that I'm wearing a wig??
Do I need to "shave" my hair in order to wear a wig?

Thank you in advance for your help!

There are alot of choices out there. Research on this site all of the different options and ask alot of questions. My daughter wears all lace wigs and tapes them on. She is an active college student and can leave the wig on for several days so this is the best answer for her. I order directly from a Chinese site and pay $425 for 24" european hair. If you want the site message me and I will send it to you. She went completely bald but once her hair started coming back, we keep it short. It has not filled in all the way.

Thank you for your reply.
Lace wig....I've heard of it before. But I also heard that while you are wearing lace wig you can not wash your hair.
I have a verysensitive skin and I don't know if "taping" a wig is good for my scalp.
But I will keep looking!
Thank you!
No you don't need to shave your hair off to wear a wig. You don't even need to cut it very short. Since you are Japanese I think you could wear a synthetic very well. Many people find that the blond synthetic hair is too shiny.

You should think about getting a synthetic in what is called a "double mono" top such as the Rene of Paris collection called Amore because the part area is more realistic in a double mono. there are some nice straight long bobs like your bio hair.

You could e mail a picture of yourself to Kathy Tonkin at Gallery of Wigs-she is very very good at matching a wig to your pictures of your bio hair style.

Thank you for your reply!

So this Gallery or Wigs.....are you talking about the one in Raleigh, NC??? or is this an online store?? I'm going for a wig shopping today and the store I'm going is called Gallery or Wigs.

I'll definately tryo double mono wig on to see how that feels.
I'm nervous but excited.....hopefully I'll be able to find "the one" for me!
It sounds like both you and I are at the same stage of AA. I have been looking into wigs too but I haven't broke down and bought one yet. I just with I knew what my bio hair is going to do. Somedays I want to shave it all off and go with a wig... it feels like it might be easier then dealing with trying to hide my bald patch...and also easier then seeing my hair fall out! Good luck with the wig search and let us know how you make out!
Jules:

Hey! How are you doing?
Yes, I understand how you feel.....
My doctor kept telling me not to stress but seeing my hair fall out IS so stressful. Everyday when I go out I have to worry about my hair(make sure my bald patches aren't showing...etc) and I just can't take this anymore.
I'm going to the wig shop today and I'll let you know how it went.
Hi look up my friends and add Pat as friend and send her a message re wigs Pat has done heaps of buying hair and sending it to China and Korea to get them made and has had no problems and it has been way cheaper. I know when
uses a product to glue it to her head Bedhead I believe it is I bought it in the States in 2009 as we could not find it here and her wigs stay on in all sorts of wild weather. Anyway make contact she is really great with this stuff and will be glad to hear from you. hope all is good and that life is treating you nicely and that the karate kid is kicking serious competition winners. John
John:

Thank you!
I'll contact her!

PS
The next karate kid is competing in Atlanta next month(:

Thank you for your reply.

Wow, 3 years!!! Let me ask you....is your wig a humanhair or synthetics???
It seems like rene of paris wigs are popular. I can't wait to try them on this afternoon when I go for a wig shopping!!!
