I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Hey guys.

I thought I'd share some more good news!

Looks like Rigel is developing JAK 3 inhibitor now but I am not sure how beneficial it would be for us, lets hope it would be!

that sounds great.

I hoped that there will be more details soon. finaly a drug intender only for alopecia.. a dream comme true :)

Does xeljanz affect fertility in men. Hoping for one more kid and not sure if I should wait before start xeljanz.
Good find CWS! How you getting on mate? How is the growth coming along?

Things continue to progress. I have all hair except on my legs and a couple of resistant areas on my head. My legs have started to show some real uptick in growth over the last 2-3 months. I went from having 1% leg hair a couple of months ago to having close to 15% now. I have upped the meds to 3 pills a day for the next few months to see if we can bust out he resistant spots on my head. I am overall very happy with the results thus far.

That's amazing mate so happy for you ! Keep us all updated! Hope this or something like this comes FDA approved by next year!!

Amazing progress! I myself responded quickly, and went down to 1 pill a day after 2 months just to experiment. Being on 1 pill a day it seemed like i still had regrowth in facial hair. Keep it up!

I go to see dr king for my follow up next week. I started on July 3rd. I am total AU for three years. I have head coverage plus beard and brows but no lashes yet

Wow great progress.I wonder why xeljanz isn't working for some of us or very slowly? It is such a powerful drug you would think it would have the same effect on everyone.
I think people who are taking it are using some other immusupreasant along side it.. Especially to start it. But some have had them before starting xeljanz and I have heard some are just on xeljanz.
