I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

That is great news cmbdd! When will they release this for all of us to use? Can you get it as off label now??

I don't believe that topical ruxolitinib is available directly.  I think you can get the oral form off label (as long as you have a prescription, similar to Xeljanz) and then can get it made into a topical at a compounding pharmacy.  Though I think ruxolitinib is ~3x more expensive than Xeljanz plus whatever the compounding costs (no idea how much that is).  Also don't know if a month supply of oral ruxolitinib necessarily equals a month supply of topical.

Published in Yale News Today! Inbetween seeing all of his Xeljanz patients, Dr. King helped develop a cream/topical form of Ruxolitinib which was applied by a 17 year old teenage girl to her scalp and eyebrows twice a day. After 12 weeks all of her eyebrows were back and partial growth on her scalp. Then she was switched to the oral pill form and now has COMPLETE regrowth of all of her scalp hair. These are exciting times!

Hi!

The pharmacy in Turkey are saying they can make the topical cream, but they need more details on how making it, do anyone know a pharmacy in U.S.  that can help the pharmacy in Turkey?

Hey cmdd20, would you please start a new discussion and post today's Yale News results? Thanks

12 weeks and full regrowth of eyebrows with topical ruxolitinib. Amazing!! Feel free to share the article.
Am hoping the FDA won't have a problem approving the cream version as it would have a lower amount of side effects !
Have you begun in first month whit 2 or 1 pilss???
2 pills a day, one in the morning and one at night
