I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

The photos are at home...we take pictures every 2 weeks to document the process and to forward to Dr. King. Will make sure to transfer them to my phone and get them uploaded to share.

This has truly been a miracle drug for our family. Best to all!

this REALLY sounds like a miracle! Truly amazed.

Maybe miracles are not for everyone. Some of them need some serious miracle.

Wonderful, thank you very much for this incredible picture.

To me work for all only for some faster and for other need more time but work for all.

I've been on for just under 5 weeks and have growth just about all over my head just no pigment yet .. It definitely works.
Congratulations Jcortez05! I know you are happy and excited like most of us are.
In my opinion it is a miracle that xeljanz is even being used for alopecia when it was originally to be used for rheumatoid arthritis , I've had alopecia since I was 13 years old and have had to wear a wig all through middle school, highschool and college! Ive seen more hair growth on my head in the last 4 months than I've seen in 13 years, it is a miracle that finally there is something that's getting us one step closer to finding a cure.
WOW Serg, you are the first guy I know of who wore wigs all thru school. I can see why you consider Xeljanz a miracle too. Thank you for standing up for me.
Icarus - I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions. With that being said, I also believe xeljanz to be somewhat of a miracle drug for me. I was conpletely AT progressing to AU when starting xeljanz. Attached is my now picture of six months on xeljanz. With a full head of hair and 75% eyebrows back I can officially call this drug a miracle
