I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Yes, but I still have a lot of bald spots in my scalp.  Small ones, but looks like that it is hard to grow hair on them.

How long have you been on it ?

Since the end of April / 2015

That's amazing growth mate ! Do you take anything else with xeljanz or before you started xeljanz ?

Sorry for the delay.

I´m only using Xeljanz.  My doctor want´s to know only about this drug for now.

She doesn´t want missinformation.

Hi Joao, The price of the drug in Brazil is half of the price inthe U.S.. I was hoping you could post the name of the drug store and telephone # so I could calll them and see if we could arrange a way for me to get the xelajanz.  The price of the drug here is over $2,000 a month

Xeljanz2015 had pointed out in another thread that the Xelsource copay assistance was increased to $12k from $8k for 2016. I confirmed this with Xelsource today. They have also increased the 2015 copay assistance by an additional $4k. If you have not yet spent $12k on the medication in 2015, you may want to consider buying more (even if it's not needed at the moment) so you don't lose the benefit of the added assistance since I don't think the unused portion rolls into 2016 (representative wasn't certain of that however). If you have spent $12k or more in 2015, you should be able to submit a rebate form for amounts not already covered by Xelsource.
Wow thanks for the info I just called and got another bottle shipped I'll get it Wednesday I didn't know they increased it .. Now I'll try for another copay card in 2016.. My dr gave me 2 bottles so told me over until my insurance hopefully covers this.
My understanding is that the card automatically refills on Jan 1 so you shouldn't need to get a new card.
Joao your pics are amazing! Don't be discouraged those other spots will fill in soon! Very happy for you I bet you'll be keeping that facial hair for a long time. Enjoy it!

Thank you Katie.  I´m not discouraged, belive me.

What are people doing to get the copay card? What's the trick? It would be much appreciated.

Thanks
