I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

its 12.000 $ the cost of this treatment, so each hair of yours cost some 100 bucks.

So much for a miracle!

For those that haven't read my Discussion, "From Totally Bald to Regrowth in One Month" I and many others are on Pfizer's Hardship Program and get Xeljanz ABSOLUTELY FREE. They even Fed Ex it directly to your home for free every month. My discussion explains how to contact Xelsource, Pfizer's support service for Xeljan, to see if you qualify for the program. If you don't qualify, Pfizer has a co-pay discount, whereby you can receive $12,000 worth of Xeljanz (a four month supply) for FREE starting this month in 2016.
Can you please help me figure out the steps for Pfizer's Hardship Program? I've called and filed out a document, added a Pay stub, also had my Derm Dr. Fill out and fax. I received no response...

My derm has been prescribing it to wealthy patients, all having success with growth. He referred me to a fantastic RA Doctor in NYC, who's tested me for RA and Cero negative RA. I have neither..making this harder. He also met with a Pfizer rep who's been basically begging him to write the script for hisRA patients. Although ,the once he mentioned my case, the rep was "uncomfortable" and "couldn't help" when it came to off label use. Vaguely helping, by Directing him to some "medical dept" at Pfizer. I keep hitting road blocks, when it seems easier for others to get this drug. I honestly want 4 months worth, and will fly to turkey for more (I spend half the year in sweden for work, so that's an easy weekend trip). I'm at low point, lost everything and it's hurting my career, and life in every where.
Call Xelsource and ask them if they have received all the documents they need. They were having a problem with their fax server awhile ago, so I MAILED THEM ALL THE DOCUMENTS INSTEAD. Ask them for their mailing address. Have your Derm office mail the doctor's HEALTHCARE PROVIDER FORM ALSO (that they previously faxed). The Healthcare Provider Form IS YOUR DOCTOR's AUTHORIZATION for Xelsource to prescribe you Xeljanz. You will receive your Xeljanz from Pfizer's pharmacy, not one near you. Additionally, if you have medical insurance, your insurance company HAS TO REFUSE TO COVER YOUR DOCTOR's PRESCRIPTION. That refusal has to be in writing. Call your DERM OFFICE SUPERVISOR and ask them to MAIL a copy of insurance's refusal to Xelsource and yourself. Follow up with Xelsource again and ask them have they received all the paperwork they need. I never received written verification from Xelsource that I was approved. The people on the PHONE said all my paperwork was done and we could schedule my delivery of Xeljanz by 2 day Federal Express. You have to call EVERY MONTH TO SCHEDULE YOUR DELIVERY. They ask you a couple of questions re any negative side effects and to reconfirm your mailing address. Then they want to know WHAT DAY you want to receive your Xeljanz. Ok, please follow all the steps above, and hopefully you will have your Xeljanz soon! You have to stay in communication with Xelsource and MAKE SURE THEY HAVE ALL YOUR PAPERWORK BY MAIL, not their fax server. I wish you the best, let me know how it goes.
Keith - just to mention. If you are single your income must be less than 75k to be approved for the hardship program. I was originally denied because I make more than that. I had to send in proof of income and appeal this (I sent in my tuition statements, lease contract, utility bills, car payments, etc). I was approved for the program but it look a long time. I recommend calling xelsource frequently. The process is long. Like xeljanz miracle said you also need the healthcare provider form, the patient enrollment form. And a letter of denial from the insurance company stating that they will not cover xeljanz
Download a copay saving card it will cover 4 months worth of medicine then have your dr send script to specialty pharmacy
Yes Keith, use Pfizer's co-pay card to get $12,000 worth of FREE XELJANZ NOW, while you wait for the Hardship Program to kick in.
Katiegirl, do you know if its possible to be on the Hardship Program AND get the Co-pay card to cover taking 3 or more pills a day?

I've downloaded the co-pay card. It says for 8k. I will call my dr now, but does the script have to be for RA? Or can he write it for "off label" use?

Secondly, and specialty pharmacy's recommended? I'm in NYC. Thank you again.

It went to $12,000 the first of January. Your doctor can prescribe it off label.
Keith, you can go to Rx or CVS pharmacies in New York
