I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

and how many pills a day you eat !?
thanks and thy give us hope
keep going sp06
waiting you sir (sp06
Thanks you so much! I began xeljanz because I was starting to become alopecia universalis. I had lost the majority of my scalp hair and was staring to lose hair everywhere else. I take 2 pills a day, 5000 IU vitamin D, and 5000 mcg biotin everyday.
Beautiful growth Sp06!

Wow...that is outstanding progress in 3 months. I still have resistant spots and I have been on it for over a year and a half. I am hoping a JAK2 will take me the rest of the way. We need more meds in this category to stem some competition and bring the prices down. Great pics.

Thanks!! As long as it's working don't give up, I'm glad you are seeing progress too! I agree, hopefully in a few years when more jak inhibitors come out, the prices will be driven down due to competion, I also hope stem cell therapy becomes a viable cure one day.

great progress for 3 months!

Thanks! There's still a few places that need to fill up, but I'm really really hoping I can go wig-free in a few months. I've been using the topical cream on my left eyebrow, but it doesn't seem to be doing much yet. After starting the pills, I regained my sideburns and most of my beard. Oddly though, I haven't seen much regrowth of leg hair in certain areas.

My legs are still 70% bare. I went to 3 pills a day for 6 months with little added progress...back to 2 now. Legs seem to be the most resistant. You are not alone there.

Sounds great .
Sp06 and cws .
are you guys have a AU ?
and do you have guys any side affect ?
thanks
I was starting to become AU before getting on xeljanz. No side effects thankfully. Recently had a blood work done.
