I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Good work Singh!
Thanks !

Hello I am new member.

Can anyone tell me if a Xeljanz is available in a cream/ointment?

Welcome Pat! After you get your prescription, you can call it into this compounding pharmacy in Philadelphia. They sell it for around $330 for a 30 grm tube. I will look up pharmacy info for you.

Thank you very much.

My problem is I live in Albany Australia however I know of a couple of compounding pharmacies in Perth so next time I go there I will have it prepared.

Hello everyone! I haven't written anything on here for awhile, so I thought I'd chime in. I have been AU for about 6 years. I have been on X since March 2015. I started at 2 per day, but I didn't get any results until I started taking 3 per day. That progress was very slow, so now I am on 4 per day. My insurance would only pay for 2 at first and I was getting the rest free from the drug company. Now, however, my insurance pays for 120 pills per month! I have been taking 4 per day with no side effects since November. My eye lashes and brows are in 100% and I have 4 quarter sized bare patches on my scalp with the rest filled in! Most of my hair is about 1 in long with shorter hair still filling in. I am so happy!! I am praying for good results for all of you!

That is fantastic Merry. I am so happy for you, I know you had a very slow start. Do you think you will taper down from four to three once your hair all comes in? I am taking three and finally have full regrowth, but am contemplating reducing to two since it looks like this treatment is long term or forever.
Wonderful Merry! What insurance do you have that is paying for 4 pills a day? I'm sure a lot on the forum want to know.

Thanks Starshine and Miracle! I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Sheild. My doctor's office managed to get them to pay.

Great! More power to him and them. I get 120 pills a month too, from Pfizer. All of my bald spots are filled in, but at a different length and thickness.
Great news Merry when you switched to 4 pills did you see growth right away and how long have you been on 4 pills. And is your blood work doing well?I also have Anthem Blue Cross and they won't even cover Xeljanz for arthritis.Express Scripts is the company that sends out your medication 3 months at a time and I did call them.Dont carry xeljanz our insurance is covered through Motion Picture.Maybe different plans or who ever covers the drugs.
