I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Hi everyone, it's been a few months since I posted here about my Xeljanz journey. I'm happy to share with you all that today 06/11/16 is my first day out without a wig in almost 20 years! I saw Dr King yesterday and he was thrilled with my progress. Today I had a nice spa day with haircut, manicure, wax, bought new sunglasses and clothes! What a great day! I continue on Xeljanz and Rogaine 2x/day, and about 2 months ago Dr King added Spironolactone 25mg and increased little by little, now I'm at 100mg 2x/day which we'll be continuing for the next 3 months until my next appointment. I'm no longer using the topical Xeljanz. I still have 4 small spots and eyebrows are starting to fill. I got cortisone injections yesterday and hope it helps. I attached some pics from today.

That is a great story hair looks great we're you takeing Xelljanz orally and if so what was youre dose and how long did it take to see results also what is that other medication you mention I've never heard of it thanks and good luck
So happy for you! I know spironolactone is for high blood pressure how does it help alopecia. also do you think the xeljanz cream helped I have been using it about 12 weeks now.
Xeljanz cream didn't help me on my eyebrow. I decided to try Rogaine on my other eyebrow and it actually worked, so now I've using it on both and it's getting better.
I just started my 12th bottle of Xeljanz 2 x/day. I saw growth by the end of first month, but then I had to stop due to insurance problems so I only took 3 bottles using the copay card at first and then after I settled with insurance a few months later I went back on it. I never lost the hair that had grown at first even being off Xeljanz for about 4 months. After I started taking it again it wasn't making a huge progress so I took prednisone pulse, which worked for more growth, but I had bad side effects and decided to stop. Then after adding Spironolactone which is prescribed for androgenetic alopecia hair started growing all over and covering the remaining spots. I still have a few spots that can't be noticed.
Wow amazing xeljanz 2015! Such amazing growth ! I remember you kindly posted on my " calling out to all people on xeljanz* and you said you saw growth at 2.5 months. I would like to ask you have your eyelashes growing back ? And do you feel once you start seeing regrowth does it mean your hair starts growing in quick. I've seen some regrowth and am now 13.5 weeks on 2 times 5 mg a day. But so far I see white hair on my scalp. No pigmented hairs just yet..
