I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

My hair is falling out looks like diffused thinning just like it started out before the only thing I can think of was the anesthesia I had in April for dental work I had done. As the same thing happened last year when I lost it all .. I had a csection and also had dental work .. I am on xeljanz so I would have thought it would have prevented that
So sorry to hear about your hair loss jcortez what dose are you on? Maybe you could up your dosage and take it from there.
Well now my job is switching insurance company so I don't know if I will even be able to get it anymore so I don't want to increase it if I'm just going to lose it soon anyway .. I'm hoping it will slow down . I still have a head full but the front is thinning
mine also started out as diffused thinning and the bathroom floor was just covered with hair everyday. How bad is yours now? Keep taking the pills twice a day don't skip any.I had a dental procedure a month ago and got horrible ulcer sores on my gums that took 3 weeks to clear up treating it with peroxide several times a day!And even took 4 antibiotics before I went in never had that happen before.I am keeping my figures crossed for you please keep us all updated!
It's not soooo bad right now as it just started I'm hoping it stops :( ... but it's def thing out in the front .. I will keep you all posted
Good guess with the Anesthisia. It def can throw YOURE whole System out. My wife is a PA and swears my previous Back surgeries and a case of mrsa following one of my surgeries screwed up my Immune system. Beings I was on powerful IV antibiotics for 3 months. Try not to stress it only makes things worse Good luck
Yea it has to be,everything was growing fine until I went to the dentist ..and I had all my hair u til I delivered my son too.i did have anxiety at the dentist office so I'm sure that didn't help the situation. Ugh it's just so frustrating .
