I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.
I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.
Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.
The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.
I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

U look amazing!
Hello everyone :)
I'm new here and I've started taking Xeljanz just 2 days ago (30/6/2016).
Of course thanks to you guys I've decided to take Xeljanz after reading through all of your comments and seeing your amazing results.
I'm on 2 pills a day (5mg). I have AU, not total hair loss though. I have about 60% of scalp hair, 30% of my body hair, no eyelashes and about 5% of my eyebrows and I'm planning to post my updates every month.
I'm a little bit scared of the side-effects of Xeljanz to be completely honest with you, so if anyone could encourage or comfort me it would be REALLY helpful. I'm really worried.
I finally decided to try Xeljanz because I'm too desperate at this point after trying so many treatments in the past. I've had Alopecia for 15 years and I really want to experience life without wearing caps... I just wanna be normal..I think most of you get it.
I don't know if I'm going to be on Xeljanz for the rest of my life because I'm aware that if I discontinue my treatment my hair will fall again. So I might decide to use it for the rest of my life as long as it doesn't affect my health. (or until a safer drug is discovered). And I would love to hear anyone's thoughts about that.
I really really hope Xeljanz is the answer I've been searching for. :)
(Forgive me if my english isn't perfect xD)

The only side effect I've had is that my cholesterol has been going up steadily. The last time I had labs done, I was told that I need to change my diet and get more exercise to lower it. It is not high enough to merit medication.
