I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Hay I have question for those xeljanzs worked for. How did the treatment and hair growth progress? I think it has been 6 weeks and I have gotten mostly thin white hairs. I guess I want to know if it works does the hair change to normal. My facial hair is thicker and mixed between strong white hairs colored hair and thin shafted mildly colored hair. Possible eyebrows growth but I my just be being to optimistic.  this sound familiar to anyone.

I know a lot of people that xeljanz worked for. what you describe is really a good sign. 1st thing is to respond to the medication. looks like u do. 2nd thing is to see how much hair this treatment gives you. full density? color? thickness...
after 10 years of AU xeljanz gave me eyebrows in 2.5 months... I noticed first sign at 6 weeks
Thanks for the good news. I am trying not to build expectations but at the same time don't know what results look like. I have alopecia for 40 years. I have had some minor hair growth. Very little to be clear. I have had to shave my face about once every two weeks. But I do have a lot more fuz and long thin white hairs. I will keep you all posted.
Congratulations Frrankie!!! Yes, most of us on Xeljanz started with thin, translucent, white spiky hairs. My regrowth started in a month. The hair normally becomes terminal and darkens if u were a brunette. My eyelashes came in white also and then darkened. After 40 years you are on your way. I'm so happy for u!
what's up xeljanzmiracle. long time no see!

u definitely helped and educated a lot of people on this forum with xeljanz. I guess that your regrowth is going very well.
Thank you. I still have a long way to go but hearing from you guys helps. I don't want to get my hopes up and have unrealistic expectations. I hope if i continue to improve i like what i get. I will keep you all informed on progres. Thanks again.
oh and another thing... be patient. with this treatment some days u will think u are not responding... some days u will see progress... just be patient. ull understand later why I said that
Thank you. I will remember your advice. I will keep ya informed.
