I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Hi. I've been on the xelsource site. What was the telephone number you called and which form was it? Thank you much for the info.
18554935526 .. Once I called that I connected to the selsource line. I spoke with a woman who was very helpful. I don't know which form because it was sent right to my doctor.

Thanks.  Did you discuss that it was for alopecia ?

Yes. The woman said she knows many people are using for alopecia. And its xelsource had a typo in last response

Thanks. As I get closer to using the whole co-pay card. I will begin that process.  Even the chance of having Pfizer's further help is welcomed news!  I am on Xeljanz about 3 weeks so far. Thanks

Thanks so much for this information! Did you have to give your salary information? Do you know what the cutoff is for salary for being considered for the hardship?

I didn't have to get my salary information checked. I said 65k and that was approved. Like I said I make more but wasn't sure what the cutoff was
Hi Julie, I just did this too! We had to give number of people in our household and our income. They didn't elaberate on the income, just asked for 1040. I am supposed to hear this week if I am accepted into the program that AU1089 is in.
This is for the hardship card? They didn't ask me for a 1040 but I wonder if they will. I am still waiting for the card in mail maybe I should call and check on my status

Now I have completely recovered with morning erection and all related issues. But I am loosing hair again :(

I cannot spoil my newly wedding life and also dont wanna loose hair too.

Is there any other treatment available for diffused pattern alopecia apart from Minoxidil ?

Xeljanz is mostly working for Alopecia Areata. Does anybody from MPB or diffused pattern alopcia using Xeljanz and what are current results ?
