Yeah, the rogaine only made me feel like I was "doing something" about it, but eventually I just stopped because everything I read about it was telling me "it'll come back or it won't." Plus, that stuff gave me a pimple. On my head. I'm 27, not 16. I shouldn't be dealing with pimples at this point.

Tom, I would have to say that I am in your school of thought. I have had a few remission, in cases where I have not done anything. Right now I am growing about 70% of my hair, expect around the sides and back. For now I chose to continue to shave it down once or twice a week. I guess in so many ways, I have really gotten use to this look and have found a way that it works for me and when the hair grows back, I don't like how it looks right now and don't know what to do with it. I tried Rogaine when I first lost my hair, but I really did not notice any re-growth and the side-effect list scared me.

Hi Vanessa, when I had almost total regrowth, I had a small spot in the back that I would take eyeliner and just fill it in. You could probably still see it up close but it made it a bit less visible.

Hey Joyce. Sorry you've had to go through all of this. All I can say is there really isn't any cure. I'm currently in remission and I didn't do anything. I spoke to my doctor about shots, but he basically told me it's a temporary fix. It really is a wait and see. My hair grew back on it's own. I used Rogaine, but I really don't think that has anything to do with my current remission.

Hey Christa

I have human hair .. it really does look different. I have tried on great synthetics but I don't think you can beat the human hair look and feel. It also lasts a long time.

Joyce, wow all I can say is the shots do work for a lot of people but it's only temporary and they can hurt and the steroids over time are not good for you. It's not a cure, it just calms down the immune system for a while. There is no cure. I know that sucks but that's what I know about it. I never heard anyone loosing their nails before. How are you adapting to all of this? I hope that you are accepting and feeling better about it now. Thanks for your comment.

Hi, My name is Joyce and i lost all my hair in the year 1974 or 1975. They fell out in clumps first. Then I lost my nails completely. They grew back but my hair didn't. I was so mad. Why me. None of my family did. Then I had a dr take pictures of my scalp and he said that my folicals were sleeping. I thought they were going to awake. Well, I've been wearing wigs ever since then. I can't afford shots in my scalp. I started taking vitamin e and my haoir would start growing. Then it would stop. I just got so mad I didn't and I still don't know what to do. Does anyone out there know. Joyce Marie hawes.

i'm sure other people have thought of this as well, but i just figured it couldn't hurt to put it out there.

when i had my very visible bald spot, i found that using a dark makeup (i just used a good quality dark brown eye shadow, sometimes with some hairspray or gel to help it stick better) really helped make it a million times less visible. i even had blonde hair at the time but it seemed to blend into the root color which was darker, so i can only imagine that this would work wonders for those with dark hair.

Hi Jocelyn,
what wig quality did you choose? With my syntetic hair wigs, I feel unconfortable as on windy days I still do not stop thinking about if people behind me discover that it is a wig or not. That's why I wish to learn to go out bald. It would be the end of all these tiring hair stuff.
Have a nice day

Hey Melissa

Choosing to wear a wig as difficult for me. I have AA and I also have a good amount of hair covering my head. I have random spots of regrowth from cortisone shots so a lot of the hair I have is different lengths. I do have the hair that frame my face except for a small patch. I spent months just re arranging my style, wearing it u with headbands etc. But In January I had this spot in the back that would just always show through. I couldn't deal with thinking about everyone behind me noticing so I opted for a piece. A fall, hich is a 3/4 piece, is a great option however the clips are very tight and if you have loss on top of your head it can pull more. Also you have to wear a headband or pull your hair eve just half back so you blend it in. I opted to go with a full wig because it put less pressure. After wearing a wig for the last 10 months, I have become a lot more comfortable and I suggest whatever hair option you choose you choose human hair. It's more expensive but you will feel like you. You do have to use clips with human hair with but you can move them around for more comfort and less pulling. If you have hair in the front like me you can pull out your hair and blend it to have a more natural look. If not a nice side bang does the trick. I totally recommend the wig, it became fun and you only have to wash and style once a week or so .. think about all the extra time you will have to sleep in the morning :) It also helps me feel safe about my spots getting better or worse because no one has to see it progress. Sorry to ramble on .. I hope that helps you and anyone else thinking of hair pieces :)

Have a great day everyone!
