Started using hair, skin, nails vitamins about a year ago. They seemed to help. Got light growth around my forehead and temples. Growth seems to have stopped, and hair loss worse. Does anyone else use a special vitamin? I use a rogaine on my forehead and temples, but it seemed to irritate, so quit. Then started again, because my hairdresser said it doesn't grow hair, but will keep the hair you have. Totally frustrated. Caster oil seemed to irritate as well. The vitamins got my hopes up, but now, not so much.

Hi, I am at the same stage as you, trying everything from vitamins, oils, massage..fro everything I read there is no cure, just some drugs that may or may not stop the progression of the disorder, but you have to keep taking medication s ..and then at some stage the disease halts..but no one know when..all extremely frustrating and depressing.  At time I think I have my head around it ( no pun intended) then I am totally emotional about it.  I am still in deniel hopping I might be one of the lucky ones that maybe recession of hair line has stopped, then you wake up and a bit more of your eyebrow has disappeared...thinking of trying auto immune diet.., good luck, if I find an amazing product will let you know....sorry not super positive tonight but I really do appreciate ally friends and support I've family who will love me regardless wig & tattooed eye brows...

I have tried everything to get my hair back -  caster oil, combination if coconut and olive oil, egg half masks. I've tried needling, injections. Unfortunately nothing works for this type of alopecia. I do take hair and skin vitamins. It hasn't dome much but im sure its still good to take. I done take the meds that my dermo prescribed as I feel if there is no cure, no use trying putting meds in your system that could have severe side effects.

That was my next question. Has anyone tried the cortezone injections? I have tried everything otc, that I can think of. Now use hydrocortizone creme around temples and forehead at night, rogaine in the a.m.,for about a month. I finally had my eyebrows bladed, that helps, but not quite right.

Any particular brand of vitamins? Thank you for responding.

Hi, I am replying to follow the discussion. When I was taking a lot of iron, my nails grew very well - my hair not so much.

I recently ran out of my cortisone, and it seems to help slow things down a *drop* - b/c this week there seems to be more loss. But it’s so hard to tell... : ( !

I am going to a new dermatologist soon, but I’m not up for internal meds or injections. It creeps me out - especially becaues I feel pretty healthy otherwise - why have side effects that can make me feel sick when at least I don’t feel sick right now???

good luck : )

I take hair/nail/skin vitamins, not sure if they are helping but figure they can't hurt, also they are gummy vitamins and they taste good so eh!  I also take iron supplements as I'm now borderline anemic apparently, which I haven't been since I was before pre-menopausal but now it has come back and I am also very low on vitamin D so take extra supplements for that too and I use castor oil and essential oils on my hair & skin.

I agree with Halfbakedwho, I take no prescribed medication for this FFA as I don't believe it will help, taking more medication that probably will not make one bit of difference will just give me more not great stuff to deal with!

I think that ‘light growth’ is actually dying hair. Does it look like baby hairs along the hairline??I had it and my stylist got all excited . It’s gone .

The light growth I had was new hair growth, but somewhere along the way, it disappeared. My hair got thinner at the sides and on top. I did go "off the rails" and started eating more sugar, gluten, all the bad stuff. and stopped the rogaine (I couldn't see any benefit).. I'm watching my diet much closer now. My hairdresser said that rogaine will help keep the hair I have, so back on.

Hi,  I was diagnosed oer 3 years ago and have seen two dermatologists. Both were very clear that the scarring meant that FFA is irreversible, it is not possible for hair to regrow in the places where it has scarred. This was unwelcome news and rather brutal to be told.......but, I am pleased now that were straightforward in their message. It means I don't expect any regrowth and concentrate on making the best of what I have left.If vitamins led to regrowth I think would be recommended. I don't have any eyebrows, but tattoos have been wonderful, I do what I can within reason to lead a healthy life but am not expecting any improvement. As I am typing this it strikes me that I have accepted my condition....progress! I still look at any research I can. Good Luck
