I have tried to wear wigs but my head gets bruised and sore on the temples and sides. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried the gel wrap but any little pressure even from the gel wrap to the wig hose type cover is sensitive to me. Thanks!

Hi Jane,
Thanks for the information about the headbands on the Free People site. I'll look into it. Debs (who is a real mine of information), mentioned Buffs and I have bought two and enjoy wearing them but I also wear the kind of headband that is ruched on an elastic band at the back. I wear these under my hair at the back but over my fringe (I think you call it bangs in the USA?). As the hair I have left is cut in a bob this seems to work for me and I've had friends say that they think of it as my style! I wear a hairpiece quite often now as I've lost 2 and a half inches off my forehead but I don't wear headbands with the hairpiece. Oddly enough the hairpiece does not seem to irritate the inflamed skin on my hairline and it's given me quite a boost to be able to have a different hairstyle.

Hi Jane, What kind of hair piece are you wearing? Does it have clips. I cannot wear anything with clips on sides or top as my baldness is from behind my ears and up (nothing to clip onto).

Try sewing a little felt into that area. Also, you might be able to find a soft cotton headband to put on your scalp before you put the wig on. It would have to be very thin and not too tight. You might have to make one. Many people have specific sites that are more tender than others.

I just received yesterday a box of new wigs from Jon Renau. They had some really nice wigs that had a cap that looks like it is quite deep and it is VERY soft. This is a "look/see" box and I can't really try them on unless I purchase (and of course they are not my style/color)but I was very impressed with the soft nature of the cap. They now offer European hair as well as Chinese/Indian and synthetic.
Not trying to sell, I don't like to do that long distance unless the client is very sure of what they want so just posting information.
