Hello, I am new here. I want to buy a topper but I don't know if I should spend the money. I might not have much left to clip into. Can anyone share their experience? Thanks

I wear a topper, and have been very happy with it. It is a lot cooler then wearing a wig. You can try one on at a wig shop and see if it will work for you. I have lost quite a bit of hair on the sides but the clips are far enough back that it I am able to make it work. Good luck, it was the best decision I ever made for my hair.

Thank you!

I have a couple of toppers. I have a wig I haven't tried. Not wild about the clips with the toppers. Try to use just one clip, and a headband to keep the topper on. It's okay. Has anyone tried hair extensions? I looked into hair bonding, but not widely available.

Thank you.

Curious why you don’t like the clips? I use all 4 clips

and it stays nice and secure. I can not even tell they are

there. Topper with one clip and a headband seems a hassle??

No problem keeping them on with the clips. I don't like that the clips can stress out hair, and cause more hair loss. Which is why I use the clips sparingly. Yes. It is a hassle. I imagine that hair extensions would have the same effect of stressing out hair.

Hi Carolin,

I would refer you back to a previous discussion that I was involved in. It is at https://www.alopeciaworld.com/group/frontal-fibrosing-alopecia/foru... I would add that I have found that the glue builds up a bit on the hairpiece but I use that to my advantage. After a few days there is enough there to just moisten it then stick it on. It doesn't dry instantly so you have to be careful while you arrange the rest of it. I just hold it in place while I comb, etc. I'm so used to doing it that the coolness helps me to place it just right. Takes me less than 30 seconds all up. That works for ages though sometimes a dab of glue is needed in strategic places. That's fine for me though I don't do martial arts like my daughter does. She is very careful to glue hers as if her life depended on it. Mine never moves anyway in spite of me being so relaxed and casual about it.

Thank you Maz. This is good to know about the glue. I will eventually need it. Or right away need it I ordered a custom made topper. It will be beautiful. I'm hoping it works for me. I don't do anything too strenuous either, should be fine for me.

I wore toppers for years....first clipped in top front hair and back.  as loss progressed became more creative and finally taped front and sides while still clipping into back.  It worked well for a long time and I would recommend it.  Finally, though, as noted during another discussion, I gave in to a full wig which is very lightweight and does not move and does not need to clip or tape and therefore, I think for me, a bit more freedom and faster to put together.  But, my loss is pretty extreme at this point.  The toppers are good and worked for me for three to four years, although I kept replacing probably every 12 to 18 months.  I spent lots of money and got human hair, colored to match mine and although expensive, very worth it.
