Jeffrey,
so my platelets the first blood test were 126 and second 147 normal is 150-450
at the time the Dr. were not talking Alopecia, we were going the path to see why my hair falling out. So I don't think their is any association.

Welcome to the group.
Quite the 50th huh?
How low are your platelets? As you probably know platelets are needed for effective blood clotting. I've never heard of this associated with alopecia. Ant explanations from the DR?

Hi everyone. I started to loose my hair last fall.( i was just starting to think about turning 50) my partner and I have three dogs and their is always a lot of hair around so I did not think much about it, until I started to get lots of hair in my hands after I would wash my hair. Went to the Dr. she did all the blood tests, found I had a lower than normal platelet count. Went to a Blood Dr. she was like do you fell sick I said NO and now I just have to get blood checked every 6 months. She ordered more tests with no bad results . So another month goes by I email my Dr. and tell her Im loosing all my body hair so now I go and see a Dermatologist and get told that I most likely have AU. So my 50th birthday present from mother nature was to be like a new born baby with no hair anywhere . ( I have a few eyebrow hairs but going fast.)

I'm brand new to Alopecia World, and to the LGBTS group, and relatively new to Alopecia Areata. My condition started in March of this year and has been progressing in normal fashion (i.e. completely unpredictable). Just wanted to say hello and connect with others who can relate to this condition.
