I love hats/caps. I'm a sports lover and even in the summer you will see me wearing my bandanna whether black or blue with a cap of choice for the day. It might be a tennis cap or a cap without a team name. I coordinate the color of the cap in general with my outfit for the day.

I've been layering a nylon ski cap from Turtle Fur under another wool ski hat by Bula or a fleece cap by Turtle Fur when its super cold out. When I ski,i use the nylon cap under my helmet an d it works fine. I just open and clos e the vents, and when its been super cold i layer the cap under a balaclava , then add the helmet.
To Tawny, about the pinhead hat problem, maybe try on kids/boys ski hats and balaclavas, They have to be smaller!!

Hi, I started wearing a hat and scarf when I was active in sports when I started college some 25 years ago. I was athletic and when I went from Alopecia areata to totalis I did the hat and scarf thing. When it was cold out, too cold for just a scarf I'd plop a hat (baseball, basketball or tennis cap) on and away I'd go. I feel very comfortable in a scarf indoors and with the hat/scarf outdoors.

For a warm, comfy, fitted hat; just make the Wiggies hat using one strand Fun Fur with one strand Bernat Satin yarn and crochet it longer so that you make a folded brim. This makes the prettiest, most comfortable hat ever. I have made them in several colours to match different coats/scarves. You can find the pattern on my blog. (ask & I will add it here too)

Hi Everyone, I was wondering is anyone is a skiier and if so, what do you wear under you helmet? This will be my first season without my bio-hair and I am wondering if there is a comfortable solution that will also look good when I take my helmet off. The "skull caps" that I've seen out there for athletics are comfortable underneath, but make me look like a pin-head and have extra room in them because my head is so small. I love the look of the turbans and scarves, but worry about it being bumpy under the helmet and causing discomfort. Just wondering if anyone has a better solutiong than the skull caps or knows where I can find smaller, nicer skull caps. thanks!

How about the Patagonia Beanie Hat at

It says it's "form fitting" so maybe it would work.
