Anyone else have high cholesterol? I don't eat any meat, have fish now and again, don't eat chocolate, don't like cream, no butter either. Eat a little cheese and 6 tsp of plain yoghurt daily. Drink a couple of wines a week. Only eat egg whites. No…Continue

Did you get a confirming Diagnosis, Devin, from your Rheumy? I have horrible osteoarthritis (getting a joint replacement surgery soon) and a variety of other autoimmune. It's frustrating to have so many things going on ... and I do sometimes wonder, "Why me?". Not so much feeling sorry for myself but questioning what genetic weakness/flaw makes me susceptible and other people seem to have no issues.

I have been eating an incredibly healthy diet my entire adult life, very active, meditate, etc etc. I am curious if people have remission from changing their diets, though. I do know if I ever consume aspartame - I immediately develop full blown fibromyalgia symptoms.

Anyone have some positive changes noted with a specific diet?

Wow Connie that's got to be tough on such a young guy. I just got back from the Rheumatologists and I either have Psoriatic arthritis or Lupus disease. I have some antibodies that should be under 40 and it’s like 1200 or something, but it could be because of the other autoimmune diseases, he’s not sure. Do you ever wonder why me??? Well Chefpam let me know if that diet works, Ill try anything at this point.

Devin,
My son (his diagnosis changed from Ulcerative Colitis to Crohns today) was on Pentasa, which is another form of Mesalamine. He was taking 2 x500mg 4 times a day (8 large capsules). He didn't tolerate it (caused a severe flare-up) and had to stop after just 6 weeks or so. He had tried it once before in the beginning and the doctors thought they needed to get his immune system suppressed more first. He's been on 200mg/day of Azathioprine (Imuran) for 1 1/2 years and just finished his second Remicade infusion.

Hey guys. I just read the Paleo Diet book and have been doing it for 3 days. I have read many good results with it for those suffering from autoimmune diseases. Anyone on it? If you have heard any negative remarks please don't tell me. I will get that in my head and it will interfere with my positive vibes, LOL..

Yeah I taped the pageant and the football on the DVR. The pageant stressed me out more then the football. That was the first time I’ve watched the whole thing and cared about the outcome.

Hey do any of you who have Crohn's take Asacol? If so how many a day?

Hi,
I watched the whole pageant only because of Kayla and I thought she was and is incredible!! I know she will be doing great things for people with AA. God Bless Her and keep her strong and Thank you for your inspiration. All the Best of Luck in 2011, Marianne

My little girl watched the pageant with me last night and helped me cheer for Kayla.I told her that Kayla demonstrated the true meaning of beauty and holding he her up high! She did such a great job and we were so proud of her. It takes a lot of courage to be up there period, but being up there despite her alopecia deserved a crown in my opinion!!
