I've tried to connect with her but no reply. But like you said, I am sure she is very busy.

Hey Ladies Kayla Martell is on AW. She is one of my friends if you want to find her. She might be a little busy today since she is competing for Miss America Pageant, but Im sure she would get back to you.

Thanks Jill,
I think that as many of us as possible should do this and set a goal to do this. Lets stand up for ourselves and our rights. You know there is a Miss America Contestant with AA how can we contact her about this? Thank you for your support and lets gather more for the cause? Marianne

I found out I have Addison's Disease at age 18 in 1978, then Thyroid disease, Psoriasis, then just over 4 years ago, before my Wedding a small outbreak of Alopecia. I received cortisone shots and an acid put on and wiped off, got burned scalp but hair came back. Now 3 rounds of cortisone shots on head some high potent rogain use, 3 wigs and a shot of cortisone in the buttocks, so far.
Thanks Stress and Heredity and the lack of Insurance Companies to understand that this is Not a "Cosmetic" issue? Am I wrong? Thanks for your support, Marianne

I first had my AU but since have been diagnosed with mild Lupus , I just get flar ups here and there. I had Rhuematoid Arthritis in one knee. But have been eating healthier and doing yoga and am doing sooo much better.. Anyway it seems like once your body can't recognize one tissue or cell it can do the same to anything else on your body.

Thanks for replying ladies. What my practicioner is saying is that sometimes when you have so many autoimmune issues it effects everything in the body including the thyroid. SInce I have gotten so sick with my psoriatic arthritis the thyroid WON'T stabilize and the alopecia and sore scalp are worse. My antibodies are always negative but she says with autoimmune issues it is common to get a false negative. I was on the original Armour and it was like a life saver but after they changed it I started having problems and since then really can't find anything to work. Right now it is T3 and 4-but compounded with acidophillius as the filler. Aren't Levoxyl and Synthroid the same thing? My TSH is just at a 5 now but it was always below 1 before. Yes, I have seen many, many endocronologists. Since my journey began, I have seen over 200 traditional drs. and finally realized they were never going to help me. Julie, have you read about Cushing's Syndrome? Sometimes too many steroids can cause this. Thanks for replying. Hugs and prayers.

Chefpam -

Hey I've been thyroid medicine for 21 years. Like Jill I started with synthroid but about 10 years ago switched to levoxyl. For some reason as I've gotten older I keep needing dose changes - figured it went along with other hormone changes!

I do have a friend who found that nothing worked either .... so she tried Armour. Are you familiar?? It is natural ( from pig.. yikes!) rather than synthetic and provides both T4 & T3. It made a huge difference for her... maybe ask your doc about that? Also a blood test looking for thyroid antibodies can tell you if your thyroid condition is autoimmune or not - surprised your doc is speculating? Have you seen an Endocrinologist?

Since you started this thread Devin, I wanted to ask a question. I have had thyroid disease for over 20 years and took Synthroid. The last 7 years since having my child I have had to keep searching for different thyroid meds because nothing works. I am currently on compounded T3/T4. My functional medicine practicioner tells me that most likely I have autoimmune thyroid disease and that is why none of meds are working. Until I get the autoimmune issues under control the thyroid won't get better. Anyone heard of this? BTW, sounds like we have a lot in common Jill.

Yeah Tamer no problem, we all have M.A.D. in here, but it’s got to be tough on a teen like you or Chris. I didn’t have any of these diseases as a teenager and I had a rough one. They had to put me in Military school 11-12th grade. I can’t imagine how hard that would have been with MAD. Although sometimes things like that make you stronger and a better person!
