Sisterhood of Women who Shaved their Heads

This group is for women who have taken the bull by the horns and decided to shave their heads. It is also for those that aspire to someday shave their head. Hopefully we can provide support, guidance and compassion to one another.

Your right after they see us going about our lives as usual they think it's not OK to make smart remarks about us, not so. If someone was 100 pounds overweight they sure wouldn't be making any smart comments would they?
I arranged a meeting with her and I told her straight up how she made me feel. I told her I sat on it and tried to come up with a positive but I just couldn't, she apologized and I forgave her.

I am finding that a lot of people assume that if we go without hair we must have the self confidence of a saint. I know that isn't what she meant but people think we are amazingly strong because they think they would never be able to go bald in public. Hold your head up high and be proud. It was just an offhanded comment by somebody who has no idea how hard it really is.

I was told in a supermarket by an older lady that "at least your baby is cute!" I was a little embarrassed at first but I tell that story a lot and now it makes me laugh. That poor woman is so rude and closed minded, I almost feel sorry for her sometimes.

I am thinking of making a formal complaint, I contacted my union stewart immediately after it happened and again this morning.
I thank you all, when bad stuff happens I always know where to come to, I come and talk to my sisters. :)

I just saw your post, Susan. I'm so sorry you experienced this (and that you have such an absolute ass in your life). As Cheryl and Lily said, you have to remember that the remark just shows how insecure the speaker is. I think you should consider making a formal complaint with whatever department is appropriate. It's a cliche to say this, but experiences like this do make you stronger. hugs,
Mary

Your both right and I know it too, it's just such a blow, I've been on the verge of tears all day. I thought maybe I should I put my hat on? Than I correct myself, I'm not going to go backwards with this just because someone wants to make a cruel joke of me. It also proves to me that I'm still adjusting to my new look and I'm just not there yet.

Susan, I agree with Lily. Even if you chose not to open this can of worms for this situation, but I would come up with a sentence in response to a comment like that, that you can use the next time. Your main focus is to keep your path regardless of what others say or do. Eventually you really start seeing situation like that, as more of a reflection of them then of you.

I wish I was closer to all of you. I got my feelings hurt today when a member of senior mamagement told me I looked like Gandhi, that I only needed the shawl to complete the look. Because I'm bald and I wear glasses I look like Gandhi!!! How cruel, and I thought this woman supported me. It sure doesn't take much to strip me of my confidence.

does anyone know if the women that's on the voice tonight have alopecia or is she just a strong lady who shaves her head?
