LOL @ Cheryl for finding shaving time-consuming! I know the feeling; every time my hair grows back and then falls out again I have to get used to shaving it smooth again. Eventually, you find your rhythm and it becomes a lot less troublesome. For me, when I have to shave the patches on my head, it usually takes about 5-7 minutes in the shower (I hate it when I miss a spot too!)

I can't wait to see everyone in Los Angeles!!

Hi all,
I have some patches of hair on my head (shaved), but all is completely white, lucky me. My eyebrows are there as well and completely white as well. I draw them every morning, but as soon as I will have the possibility I will get them tatooed. I don't like to sweat in summer without touching this area...
Eyelashes are still there for 80% and brown. That is the constant situation for several months now. It's OK.
Yesterday, my eye docter asked me if I had any health issues. I didn't find any (lol), (just forgot AA). She had to ask more precisely about what happened with my hair..."oh sorry, I forgot..."

I remember a Burma Shave sign on the highway (if anyone doesn't know what that is, look it up on Wikipedia) in my childhood (long before I had my first AA)...it's funny that this is the ONLY Burma Shave sign I remember:

"Says farmer Brown...
who's bald on top...
I wish I could...
Rotate the crop....Burma Shave"

I wish I could rotate all this chin and upper lip hair up to my eyebrows!

My eyebrows and lashes came back from January to September 2009, then went bye-bye for two years. We have to expect it to be temporary, and frankly, I feel fortunate that my scalp is hair-free rather than patchy.

Can't wait to meet you and my other Sisters in Los Angeles!

LOL! I hear you Mary about growing hair where we don't want it and vice versa! I have had 99% regrowth once before and never really fooled myself into thinking I was healed. I am quite prepared to grow and lose hair in cycles through out my life.

Thanks for sharing, Cheryl. I haven't grown a single hair on my head since I went AU close to 3 years ago, but I am experiencing more facial hair lately. I've been having to pluck my eyebrows, which are growing back in patches (and are quite dark). I also have my upper lip hair to deal with for the first time in a few years. It's so silly to be plucking eyebrow and upper lip and chin hairs when I have ZERO hairs on my shiny head!

Just thought I would share my thoughts. My hair was growing back with a vegence the last 6 months or so. I never put much thought into it and just continued to shave it. Well, lately I have been growing some more bald spots on the top of my head. The thing that is driving me crazy, is that my hair is dark black and I am light skinned. So when I shave you can still see the difference between my spots and the parts of my hair that I grow hair. So now I find myself needing to shave more than usual. Having alopecia, I never would have thought that shaving my head would become more time-consuming than not ;)

Yes, Kristy!!!! Your experience is very close to mine. Keep on rocking that bald look when it's warm enough!

Hi Ladies, I shaved my head September/October last year, and since then I progressed to Universalis, so I no longer have to shave. I live in the Chicago area, so I usually wear a wig and a hat out now, as it is so cold here, but I"m looking forward to the warmer months when I can head out with only something to protect me from the sun. For me, shaving my head lifted a huge burden off of my shoulders. I no longer constantly obsessed about what hair I had left on my head, or what was falling out. I am not the sort of person that can keep everything inside...i would go crazy. So I tell people about alopecia whenever I get the chance. I flew to Los Angeles last month, and skipped wearing a wig at the airport and on the plane both ways. Between carting luggage, a stroller/carseat, and a screaming two year old, the last thing I wanted to worry about was my hair. Yes, I got a few crazy looks, but I just smiled at everyone. I mentioned to one lady who struck up a conversation with me that I had alopecia, and she said, "oh, I thought that was just a look you were going for, you look great." I beamed for the rest of the day.

Way to go, Annette. Just take it a day at a time.
