Do you ever get to a point where you don't like seeing yourself in photos? I used to be very photogenic, but sometimes I don't like what the camera sees. If you ever felt like this please share how you overcame that situation.

Thanks!

Hey "Merc Mama" -- it's me, Kathy! I recently had to renew my driver's license, too, and did it bald. What the hell -- that's who I am!!! It was a bit weird to see the actual license, with my bald smiling face looking back. But, since I'm out there, bald every day, it didn't seem to make sense to throw on a wig for the photo. Besides, I'd feel as if I was wearing a costume if I wore one at this point. Do what YOU want, though, and don't worry about what anyone else will think. You need to be comfortable with the decision. Hold your head high and smile. Hugs to you!! :)

For the past few months my hair has been in a cycle of loss again. I bought a wig but found that my hair loss increased. I decided to take the big plunge and shave my head entirely. It was cathartic and freeing! I love it. Just need to take more photos sans hair!

Dear Sisters,

Please join the newly-formed Group, International Alopecia Day. This is the continuation of the National Bald Out (which began right here on the Sisterhood last year) under its new name.

Join me and Alopecians around the U.S. and around the world on Saturday, July 17, 2010 and celebrate our bald beauty and pride!

hugs,
Mary

You can get the Headblade in Canada, I've seen it at Shopper's Drug Mart. I picked up the Head Lube which is a moisture lotion and it's made by Headblade, it comes in matte or glossy.

I thought once I shaved my head would be the same all over, not so. I still have dark patches and streaks and then large sections of no hair at all (which I would prefer right now) I shave my head every morning when going to work because I don't cover it up then I use a tinted mineral powder all over to try and blend my tanned face to the rest of my head. I've had those soft white hairs like baby fuzz and that's where my hair started to grow back the last time, it grew back pure white.

I've shaved my head, and I had some growing back in, quite a bit on the crown and down the back, not so much on top. I was wondering, did any of you ladies have little white hairs coming in after you shaved your head? They come out pretty easily, and don't seem to have a root at all. Does anybody know what this is, and does the hair ever all grow back with androgenetic alopecia, or should I just keep shaving my head? I also have some darker hairs coming in in clumps, but not all over my head.

happy to be part of this group now :) was waiting and waiting and waiting to do it. If you are doing that right now, just go for it! My husband says it looks so much better than holding onto the scraps!

I am definitely working my way there towards the big shave. My hair is really going now. I have actually done a partial shave on the side of my head because I am sick of the white fuzzies showing under the wig.....Those are more irritating than anything.. I kind of got a mohawk going on right now. I find it tough though taking the plunge actually shaving the top of my head. I figure the way the hair loss is going right now by June July I ought not to have too much left anyways...... I am slowing going bald from the sides up.....bizarre..... My plan .....to wait until not much hair left to shave.... less traumatic for me..... What little hair I have left at least keeps the darn wig from shifting.....

What exactly is this headblade thing you are talking about? Can you get it in Canada? I just took a Lady Bic shaver to the side of my head to get rid of the white fuzzies. It really didn't do that great a job and I hate stubble....

Ohhhh this journey continues....
