Just calling in to say hi to everyone and wishing you all peace and happiness. Life with AU is pretty normal for me, now 72 years of age! My daughter now has false teeth and says she doesn't look like herself anymore without teeth, which is exactly how I used to feel when alopecia came into my life. People could go without false teeth but most choose to wear them. I could go out bald in public but I also choose not to most of the time.
I love positive comments, thanks Sherry! Alopecia is just another thing in life, other people have so much more to cope with. It's huge when it first happens I know and believe me I've spent many days hiding out too afraid to show myself to the world. I'm not an outgoing person, more of an introvert and feel more comfortable with a wig on when I go outside but I don't give myself a hard time over that. Whatever works for me. This summer I will remember to put sunscreen on my head when I go to the beach, last year my poor head was burnt to a crisp and so painful.
Hello Everyone. I'm new to this group so thank you for having me. I hope by now, everyone has gotten over the hump of losing their hair and are focusing on more positive things in life. I am still living, laughing and loving every minute of this thing called life. Although I was overwhelmed by this dreaded disease, I now embrace it as a blessing. I hope you are too. Please drop me a line or two and let's chat!!
Hello. I'm new to this group but I'm looking forward to meeting you all and I hope to find some people like me who don't think baldness is the end of the world and wear wigs when they feel like it and not because they have to.
God bless,
Larry
Never thought I'd reach 66 years of age with this condition but although my own hair is a dim memory I think I would feel naked without a wig on my head now lol
Happy Belated Birthday Cheryl!
I turned 50 last month! I can finally participate in this group ;)
Awww Chris, thanks! I know it's just a number really, even though it's a big number. A very big number. ......eeek! :)
Nah, actually, I don't care - too busy enjoying and appreciating life to let something like age get me down! Doing my very best to become ever more disgraceful as the years roll on.... think I'm succeeding quite well!
And I have to say, you don't look 62, but then I've not got my glasses on at the mo' :P (only kidding! :) )
Happy Birthday Norm, I hit 62 last year, was totally paranoid but it was no big deal. Celebrate!
