Marisa love your name, so glad i found your group im new to alopecia world and found you guys and grateful i did.
im a newbie here and wow you guys look great. Besides age is only a number lol. Im 60 and wear wigs when i can find a decent one i can afford that is, but always wear one and i have trouble finding one that looks my age which i wear my hair short but most hair pieces seem to need cut in to my style. i have some hair round the sides and back although the sides are really thin as well now. Ive been wearing hair pieces sence early 80s and i have to drive nearly 3 1/2 hour drive one way to get a hair piece that looks decent and to get it fitted for me as i live in VA in a rural area and know place close to me has any hair places that deals with fitting and buying a wig that looks right.
So funny... I have not one gray hair on my head. Now why couldn't I have just kept all my hair and had no gray? I would also at this stage of my life been open for the first time ever to finally color my hair a bit of a darker shade of blonde more age appropriate. Instead, I have to have hair loss. Another give away of wig wearing - even with the most natural looking HH wig is that fact that at a certain age, women's hair just doesn't look like YOUNG hair anymore. It gets old looking for most, anyway. They make HH wigs out of YOUNG hair.
Carol, I don't know how excessive your hair loss is, but sometimes it is no big deal. I have a client that was diagnosed several years ago, she is not that great at keeping up with her treatment, but she lost 1/2 inch in front and that is all. Hopefully this will be your experience also.
