Hi i'm new at alopecia world and just became a member of this group to, i'm 58 years old and my alopecia just went crazy this spring. it might have to do with hormones ofcourse and stress. I'm not sure.
I feel very good about my shaving my head from the little hair that sometimes grow in spotts of my scalp. I want to explain that i'm from Sweden so my EWnglish can be a litle strange. I'm glad to have found this site and the pictures at the start side are realy very beatiful.

The good Lord willing, Tallgirl...he too will be as old as we are. You can't even imagine being older let alone old at 17 ...For goodness sake, someone 25 or 30 is old to them. Now, I look at old being 80. Right?

A 17-year-old on this site I was trying to support commented to me that he didn't mean to be rude, but "You are really old." How ya like DEM apples?

My new thing in this 100+ degree heat is to wear an easily-removable and washable (no paper, straw or ramie) HAT around town. When on the road where no one knows me, a few minutes with hat off and facing into the car AC can make for a cooler head when put back. I am looking at some from Wallaroo and Gore-tex for my upcoming trip to ocean/wind/fog/spray. The Gore=tex has a chin strap so I can bend and beach-comb without losing my top. These are sun-protection hats found at fishing and sports stores, and the cloth is softer on a bald head than straw. Large ones fit down to my ears and hide most of my head. The one below is dressier for town, but still washable (Big 5 Sports Store. The grocery store has a knock-off, cheaper one that is too flimsy). Also: I don't want the smoke from my county's forest fire getting into my wig, so guess what I will wear when driving closer to the forest area today?

Hey fellow boomers, if you haven't yet joined The International Alopecia Day Group, please check it out. I'm hoping for photos from many different cities and countries this year. Let's make it a great one! Any questions? Ask me. Mary

I think that is a wonderful idea, someone should really spearhead this and get it started, I definately would attend, it would be a great place to bond with fellow alopecians and feel the freedom to let your hair down (or take your hair off) LOL....
