Thanks Christina. The Freedom is the best. My bio hair was really weak and thin to begin with, so when I lost it after chemo it never grew back. Then later I was diagnosed with Alopecia Androgenica and to be honest, most of the time I don't miss my bio hair. I think Jon Renault sells nice human hair wigs, one I think is called the Julia and looks very much like the style I now have, except it doesn't have a fringe. You could get that, just have it styled and thinned out and maybe use the dermafix if needed. I don't think that would be as pricy.

Hi Janine,

Thank you so much for that. I take your point about not spending too much on an interim wig... I just don't feel at the point of being able to tell everyone at work etc that I am wearing one and know that they will know. I wish I worked from home and could hide out! Your hair looks great by the way. I love the fringe. Christina

Hi Christina. I had to shave my head to get fitted for my Freedom wig. In the interim I wore a lace, human hair wig but I think for the price, I should have rather gone with a synthetic one for the time it took (In my case about 3 1/2 months). I was also worried about how to get the interim wig to stay on as I no longer had hair to clip it to. I found that because my head was shaved, the lace kind of stuck on like velcro to the stubble. I also used a product called derma fix, which is silicon strips that you can sew into your wig. Wherever it makes contact with the skin, it sticks, much like a Freedom or Follea Gripper, but not as secure. I live in a very windy city and I never once had a problem with the wig coming loose as it was secure enough for everyday wear, but not obviously for tugging and pulling, or blowdrying on one's head. I even wore it under a motorcycle helmet and it did not come off when I took the helmet off. I think on many sites you can order the wig with derma fix already in (lori's wig site is one that offers this service). I live in SA and already had the wig, so I just ordered a box of the dermafix strips and sewed them in myself. The web link is http://www.wigsite.com/dermafix_wigs.html

Hope this helps.

If you live in Australia, I'm not sure where you should go for an interim wig, but I'd ask Martine or whoever your agent is.  You don't want to pay more than you need to for something.  THe density of the hair shouldn't matter if you treat the piece gently and don't do stuff like sleeping in it or wearing tight hats.

Thank you so much Debbie.

I really appreciate your getting back.

I did meet Martine a few years ago when my hairloss was less advanced. She was of course very lovely and her hair looked great. I will call her again soon but can't work out what to do in the time between shaving my hair for a fitting and when the wig will be ready. I am thinking a Gripper might work - not sure if anyone has any thoughts on this?

I am interested in a very light density wig but wonder if that will mean that I will need to get it repaired much more frequently? I know the silicone looks more unnatural than other types of bases in areas where hair comes out.

I think the freedom wigs look amazing though and am looking forward to the day when I finally find the courage to take e plunge!

Hi Christina,

Because the hair is not processed, it won't 'clump' at the back.  Ask your agent for some pictures of short styles so you can see how the look.  I have a short one myself and I have several clients who wear short hair very well.

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on whether short freedom wigs look as natural as longer ones? Sometimes short wigs kind of stick up at the back or kind of clump together at the back and I am wondering if Freedom does this as well?

Thanks!
