OK guys - Where in Brisbane is a good place to get a Freedom Wig cut? New to the city and my daughter needs a cut, would value some input =)

The bangs are definitely messed up. Like I said there are weird short layers on the top over the long layers. I constantly am wanting to play with the bangs to make them stay in place. I dunno. We will see what the color change does first anyways....

Hi Lori-

I didn't like the bangs at all in one of my first pieces after I had it styled, I tried everything to fix it but they were way too thick and short for my taste. my rep told me I could send the wig back and have that hair replaced. it's really frustrating when this happens b/c all you want is to feel confident while wearing it, so at the end of the day i felt it was worth it to get the hair/bangs replaced on my freedom wig.

i just wanted you to know there was always that option....

take care-

andrea

Hi Lori,
I'm glad you're able to send it back to be re-coloured. When you receive it back, let me know and I'll arrange a meeting with the stylist who does mine - not saying it will be the right option for you, but it will be a place to start. Good luck with the re-colour! Shannon

Managed to get the beast on finally....Have been talking to Deb and she is awesome.......I will be sending the wig back down probably in the next day or so and they are going to try to change the blonde hightlights to caramel. Then I guess when I get it back I will have to find a place here to tune up the cut somehow.... Hopefully we can do that... Shannon I would love to go to whoever it is that you are planning on going to...

I can tell that you are really frustrated. The one thing I can tell you is that getting it placed in the correct place can be a tricky thing to learn. I was very frustrated with my first piece and I would go to work feeling like it was in the wrong spot one day and in the right spot the next. (Thankfully, it never came off and no one but me knew I was having an 'off' day.) Over time, I think I must have gotten better at it - I think I had a tendency to want to put it too far back and not low enough in the front - now I don't think much about it. It suctions well - suctioning even better as it heats up to my body temperature - and I place it and go. Even if I know that on that day I was rushed and it's probably a little off, no one else knows and I've never had it threaten to fall off. Don't give up hope and throw it in the garbage yet! I know that the colour can be fixed - I've had a human hair piece coloured twice. As far as the cut - a good stylist might have some suggestions. I think like all human hair, the texture and wave pattern can affect the way it lies. The stylist may have cut it based on good technique, but the hair has a mind of its own. You can have it looked at here without going all the way back to New Hampshire. I know that it feels hopeless now, but hang in there!

The thing is this wig was cut by the stylist that everyone has been raving about who does these wigs which is why I took the 7 hour drive down there. She may just have been having a bad day.

I choose the full bang option when I ordered this wig. There is no part in the bangs. I think maybe that was a mistake. Julia had the full bang option and the pics of her wig the bangs looked great. When I got it I found there seemed to be way too much hair in the bang area.

Like I said the cut wasn't what I wanted because it seemed to be shorter lengths on the top along the sides and back. The dynamic of the cut had completely changed. Yes it wasn't what I wanted but I could have maybe lived with it had it not been for the bad color job and the bangs being messed up.

When the haircut was first completed the bangs seemed way too thick and seemed to stick way out to me. They looked they were sticking out past my forehead because there was so much volume in the bangs so I asked her to thin them out. I guess thinning them out was what completely messed it up. There are long layers and really short layers. The short layers at right in the front over the longer layers. The frosting which has been done hides it a bit but holy cow if there were no streaks done it would stick out like a sore thumb. Even with the frosting hiding it a tiny bit the bangs just look weird. They don't hang right at all. These weird short layers don't sit right and I have to play with them to get them to lie correctly and that pretty much is in one spot only. It would have to be sprayed with hurricaine hairspray so it wouldn't budge at all. I am constantly I want to push them out of my face but can't because there is no side part.

I know there is a problem with the bangs because when I came home wearing the wig my mother was doing something she used to do when I had my hair done a way she didn't like when I was in my 20s. When she would talk to me she wouldn't look me in the eyes but her eyes would be staring at whatever it was she didn't like about my hair. She kept staring at the bang area. I asked what she thought. She said I should get them thinned out more. Her eyes would keep wandering to the stupid bangs when she would talk to me instead of looking me in the eyes. That is always a dead giveaway that she doesn't like something. So it isn't my imagination at all.

To top this all off I am having ZERO luck putting the thing on and getting it to suction. I have had it on three times successfully. The first time was when Debbie was with me at the Salon. when I rushed back to the hotel to get the thing off and wet it down because I hated what the stylist had style it as was the second time. It took me 10 attempts to put it on that time. The last time was when I put it on to wear home. I managed in one go to put it on that time. Since then I have had no luck. I tried 10 times last night and was about two seconds away from throwing it in the garbage right there and then. I tried again to day and no luck. The thing just loses suction. I either get it on and it loses suction and seems to pop off or I can't get it on and there are huge air bubbles. I am very frustrated with that. What's the point of sending this thing down to Debbie to try to fix it if I absolutely can't get the thing to stay on my head. Of course I am going to give it alopecia because of the repeated attempts to get it to stay on my head.

It just seems this has been one nightmare after another with this hairpiece. I hear all the good things about these pieces yet I just don't seem to be sharing the same experience.

Having taken his hairpiece to someone who was supposedly very comfortable cutting them and was the best and ending up having a bad experience pretty much pulls the rug out from underneath you. If she can't get it right then what chance do I really have getting it fixed and finding someone who has never worked on these wigs but will do a great job. I feel like I am fighting a losing battle and my confidence about the end result is pretty much shattered at this point.

Lori,

I know what you are going through! I had a somewhat similar situation with a DIFFERENT line of wigs. It was horrible. But here is what I can tell you, after wearing Freedom for a little of three years. This is the best product line out there, hands down. I've worn human hair wigs (not virgin color), really cheap made...but not cheap to me... human hair wigs that I had to throw away after one washing, cyberhair and synthetic wigs. Freedom is hands down the best product I've ever worn.

Your color can be fixed. Can't comment on the cut...but Debbi will take care of you! Now I've never had a problem with my color or cut (1st wig was done by a stylist in Chicago with lots of Freedom experience, 2nd done locally by a great stylist. I had the 2nd piece colored once, then colored a second time to get it a little lighter). Rose Marie is right....color can be adjusted...don't worry.

I know the anxiety you are going through. But I promise you....here is the difference, you have purchased a high quality well made product, made by a company who cares about their customers. It will be OK...it will be GREAT!

I agree, birthday parties definitely trump hair! Just send me an email, or check our farm webside: www.ballintotasalpacas.com for my contact info if you want to meet up over the holidays. It might be neat to meet up with Julie too since all of us have Freedom pieces, lol!
